Silvia, I stayed up late last night to finish "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro. Thought it was brilliant, but why, why didn't they try and escape??
It's an amazing book, isn't it? So sad, so beautifull but so terrific.
I imagine is something like it's their destiny, they are born for that, they are educated for that and they can't imagine another life.

I found it strange that they want to try and "defer" their destiny, but they don't ever think of escaping it. But yes, it was touching as well as really chilling. Have you read any of his other books?
What did you expect about their destiny when you where reading it? IMO it's brilliant the way he introduces the reader into that weird world and manages to get you stuck into the book even knowing there's something horrible 8)
I haven't read anything else, but I may buy THe remainds of the day today
Yes, I agree, you just pick up little details here and there in the same way as the children do as they're growing up. So by the time you hear the full truth, you sort of already knew, but it's still shocking.
The Remains of the Day has been recommended to me, I might try that too.
