Speaking Spanish in Ibiza

Hi

I've been learning Spanish for a while now. I understand that they speak a different language, Catalan (or Ibicenco?), on Ibiza. I don't know very much about the differences between the two languages ao I was just wondering if its worth me trying to practice my Spanish speaking skills (Castillian) while I'm out there, or will people have no idea what i'm talking about?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but i've never been!

Thanks

you'll be fine with good old cristiano. i only know 3 words of catalan - poc a poc - and it hasn't prevented me from getting served anywhere

Some speak Ibicenco but not all. As far as I know they can all speak Castilian Spanish. Think of it as the same as in Wales. Some Welsh can speak Welsh but all of them can speak English.
