Spanish Property Market ...

house prices will rise and fall but long term they will be a good investment.

some people will get luckier/be shrewder than others with the timing of purchasing/selling but that's life.

well the finances are starting to shaping up nicely and still looking to purchase something in Spain, but just wondered is it worth hanging on in there a while longer and picking up something nice and cheap at somebody elses misfortune.....   (Joke!!!!! but you know what I mean...)

sorry i need to edit what i said. house price growth will rise and fall.

i honestly don't think that house prices will actually fall, and if they do, not over any length of time and not by any great amount.

invest now and rent it out and someone else is paying the mortgage off anyway.;)

Most big real state companies are moving to east countries.
I work with real state analists and at the moment it's worst moment to buy and best moment go sell... if you manage to find a buyer. The average period to find a buyer is already 1 year

BTW, keep an eye on the investment banks files cos Citigroup will publish about non investing in Spain (does it make any sense? :? )

Having just come back from looking for property in the Valencia region. I won't be buying. The spainish have spoilt the area by putting industrial areas factories in the middle of towns and putting ceramic factories all over the place.
What have they done to the road system? Motorways* everywhere - I presume this is badly used EC money.

* I think this is happening in Ibiza as well, with the unneeded Ibiza town to San An. motorway

The industrial areas factories and ceramic factories where there much earlier than the huge new promotions of properties

Is it all going a bit Pete Tong? Or is this just scaremongering reporting?

Any comments?

i watched a TV programme last week about property in Spain and some people had bought a villa a few years ago and it wasn't really worth much more than they paid for it....in fact i think they were about o loose money.

there are too many new builds and not enough customers....

not sure if this is a problem in ibiza though..

those programmes also make better TV than the couples who do alright.

the argument of "too many new builds and not enough customers" doesn't stack up as in this case, that's nothing to do with it, cos a new house was built and a customer bought it. the fact it's value has not increased is irrelevant.

they wouldn't be building new homes if there wasn't a demand for them, because then the developers wouldn't be making money. whether these purchases are speculation is another matter.

ooohh this gets my goat...lots of numpties who believe the boom of the past however many years is the way it will always be. Dont get me wrong property is as steady a long term investment as you will perhaps find (maybe), its not always going to double in ten years tho. And the plethora of C4/5programmes. Equals everyone with minimal construction or design experience thinks its the way to an 'easy' buck. Cue lots of developers rubbing hands together and throwing up rubbish in any old place to sell to these clowns. And underqualified people managing their own construction projects and wondering why they come in over budget and late. Cue rubbish.

Thats not everyone, dont get me wrong. grrr
