FAO:Silvia/Grego or anyone into Football, im just wondering what you think of the rule whereas say Real Madrid + Barcelona finish level on points and say for example Barcelona had superior goal difference but Real Madrid had beaten Barca more times throughout the course of the season meaning they would be crowned champions of La Liga8O

I didn't actually know about that until this evening whilst watching the England v Brazil game the commentator mentioned it, personally i think that is wrong, it should be the team who has superior goal difference who should be crowned champions, madness,:?

I think the logic is that, theoretically, in head-to-head matchups you see which team is better (as opposed to which team could knock the most goals past the relegation candidates).

Not saying I agree...

i think thats what they are trying to rule out

and i agree with it

in the normal system - whats to stop 1 team offering a relegation fodder team a few bucks to allow an extra few goals in

this way - its down to 2/3 teams and the deciding factor is how you did against those teams

head to head match up is a much better way of determining a winner (altho it pains me to say as it is likely to mean "they" will win it:x).

for me though, i think that if after 38 games you cannot be split on points, then a play-off should be used to decide who wins the title. (i think this is still the protocol in serie A).

i think it is ridiculous to use things like goal difference and goals scored to decide a winner after so many games have been played.

not that i'm bitter about 88-89 or anything.:x:roll:

I think head 2 head match up should rule the day.

aye definately it simply proves how you have faired against you biggest challenger(s)....never mind goals against inferior opposition .

Incidently how many games to go in the la liga seen madrid score in the last min to keep top spot was that the last fixtures ?

2 more games to go.........

FCB have two local derbies against espanyol at camp nou and then gimnastic away

merengues have zaragoza away and mallorca at home.

zaragoza should (hopefully) give r.madrid a good game:twisted:

Sorry, forgetting the fact im a Barca fan, the head to head system is CRAP!!!

Barca are currently about 18 goals better off this season than Real, thats not just by beating the relegated teams 7-0.. thats by consistently being better than Real against the rest of the teams in the league.

If you decide the league on two games you are allowing for circumstances like bad refereeing decisions or maybe a couple injured players during those two games to prove decisive, and thats wrong!!

Through out the whole season Real has as many chances as Barca to whoop teams 7-0, so that should be the way to determine the champions.

What if they had a one game playoff? Would it be wrong for the winner to be crowned champ? With your method scoring goals would count more then victories it doesn't add up 2 me your reasoning I mean.
