Well having just typed out a long review only for my computer to crash, i will keep it brief!!!
14 of us 30 somethings visiting the white isle, some for the first time
stayed at the es vive, great hotel, excellent afterparty bar till 8am, and contrary to some reviews, nice atmosphere and other guests!!!
clubs:
kidoloogy vs kinki malinki @ el divino - had guestlists for this on our first night and it was OK for a freebie, however we left at 4.30 am when Michael Jackson remix was played twice in 45 mins!!! crowd average and atmosphere lacking. only ok as it was free.....
manumission @ amnesia - poor by all accounts, only ibiza virgins insisted on going... did not go myself but they were all disappointed. commented that hush in west end was much better
matinee @ space: highlight of the week, what an amaazing night - great music, crowd, atmosphere.... so many top tunes played on the terrace and smiles all round. restored my faith in Space, have been to opening party last 2 years and found it full of attitude
pacha classics @ pacha - dancefloor very busy/too busy but other areas all ok. Music quite suspect, not too many classics, and a trylu lamentable Pjanoo/King of my castle mashup, however lots of fun dancing to some cheesy smiley tunes with 14 friends so that made the night
azuli beach party @ sol den serra - really good to see Pete Tong play to a smaller crowd... great atmosphere, very expensive drinks (60 euro for jug of sangria!!) but worth it just to see Rhys Ifans trying to get himslef noticed - everyone was ignoring him despite his best efforts!!!! excelelnt tunes, never lioked pete tong much but he pulled out a good set...
bars:
went to see pete tong radio 1 show @ ibiza rocks hotel (having enjoyed the mambo sessions in the past) OH MY GOD just dont go there. we lasted 5 mins had to leave. 3000 chav 18-30s on speed, more water in hotel than in pool... what have manumission done creating this monster.... ??? never seen anything like this even in my youth in magaluf!!
es vive hotel bar - rocking 5am to 8am and a def top after hours place.
blue marlin - heaven for chilling out the day after and also great food
mambo/coastline etc - same as usual but no sunset to speak of
hush san antonio - a lot of us loved this place and were really surprised to find it in west end..... got chattign to the owners and ended up going to opium and then sitting up talking rubbish with them till 11am on the beach which was nice...
restaurants:
pacha restaurant - great food, slow service but free entry into pacha (ignore the 75 eur minimum spend speech our bill came to much less) recommended
la oliva - amazing food... best steak ever and reasonable prices. lovely waiters (we ate early and had three to ourselves!) plus yummy creme brulee. a great last night restaurant
bambuddah grove - ate here by default as el ayoun and km5 fully booked (there were 10 of us) and food was great but whole palce felt very manufactured and a bit commmercialised. KM5 much nicer.. cant fault the food though it was good.. esp the tuna sashimi..
Soelado (?) - figuretas - lovely restaurant on waters edge at figueratas promenade. saw a few nice resturants here which we had not noticed before. Good food again and great setting. more yummy creme brulee. Menu strangely almost identical to La Oliva!!!
Fusion - Figueratas promenade. Food poor and expensive. Tuna tatare tasted off and was inedible however they would not remove from bill instead did nto charge us for a bottle of water.... 14 eur for veggie stir fry. disappointing.
Prince of Colours - Figueratas/es Vive - great inexpensive place with nice cispy thin pizzas... waiters are very cute with great english nice breakfasts too
es Vive hotel - sunday BBQ 15 eur all you can eat..... yummmy steak ribs chicken, roasted veggies, potato salad, sausages, great esp if you get a plate between 2 . also they had thai buffet on fridays with a similar deal.... although it was a bit salty......
so in summary, a great holiday. the new laws had a big effect - i did more, ate more, saw more!!! instead of too much carry on wrongness followed by big recovery it was more measured and never before have i done three clubs in 4 days
perhaps not the harcore clubbing/music fest i woudl have wanted but we were a mixed gruop of ages and tastes.

tune of the holiday - shine on me.... from pacha 2008 album. cant remember the artist at the moment but matinee rocked when they played it
