SMARTIE PARTIE return to TURNMILLS on Saturday 8th December for their final blow out of 2007... just in time for Christmas!! And the night has all the makings of becoming an absolute classic as SP’s promoter (and Birthday boy), TRACE HARRIS has pulled off a major coup by securing the services of old skool legend EVIL EDDIE RICHARDS, who’ll be mixing it up alongside SP faves STEVE SMART and ALEX MILES.
EDDIE EVIL RICHARDS really is a cult hero on the dancefloor. He was one of the first DJs to champion house music back in mid 80’s (and mix it too!) and was based in large at London’s Camden Palace. Once described by Mixmag as “Britains godfather of house and techno”, Eddie became a key figure in this new musical and cultural movement that went onto explode worldwide. Having played original underground clubs like Clink St. and Heaven in London and Manchester’s Hacienda, Eddie also headlined infamous raves like Sunrise, Energy and Helter Skelter. He released club classic ‘Acidman’ in 1988 (which charted in the Top 20) and he went onto remix the likes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital and The Shamen. When it comes to the history of dance music, Eddie is always name-dropped as one of the fundamental key players of those early years. To this day he remains flawless in his mixing of deep, bass-driven techno and it’s little wonder he’s widely regarded as the pioneer for what we now know as tech-house. More often found at our EC1 neighbours, this is certainly a rare treat for you all, so DO NOT MISS IT!!
The SMARTIE PARTIE Christmas Party wouldn’t be the same without a few firm favourites too, so regular rockers Steve Smart and Alex Miles come in from the cold, to fire up the main room system to its full potential. Steve Smart is Kiss FM’s dance specialist as he hosts 3 key dance shows on the London show across the weekend. He’s also a rather talented DJ too – naturally, and has become a very popular jock amongst the SP faithful since debuting at Turnmills earlier this year. The same goes for Alex Miles, the Bora Bora resident with the all-year-tan!! Completing this monster Xmas mash-up will be SP residents CARLOS FRANCISCO, MATTY WELLS and DANNY DOVE, with TRACE bashing it out on the bongos, whilst the super sexy Dancers join him on stage and show off a bit of leg!! Just don’t forget the mistletoe and you’ll be in business!! Elsewhere, head to T2 for funky club classics courtesy of JASON CHANCE, CHRIS BISCUIT, Rob White and Charlie Cantanka, or nip off to T3 for all things house with DJs CONNECTED!, Jesse James and Miss Divine.
