First bit of news taken from today's DDI, "el festival de música Sonorama Ribera volverá la isla con su ‘Sonorama Ribera goes to Ibiza’, los días 4, 5 y 6 de octubre, y contará con las actuaciones de Chambao, Dorian y Varry Brava, además de otros reconocidos grupos".

You can read my review of last summer's edition here.

Btw, Los Invaders will be playing on the island again in one month at the new Rock Nights Festival!

... plus a concert on sunday 6th, to be announced tomorrow... which could be much-loved local band Statuas d Sal (rumoured to make a comeback) or maybe Loquillo (who's playing at Children of the 80s closing two days earlier) :!:

An Argentinian band, like they did last year with Babasonicos on the sunday...

Interesting interview with the founder of the festival...

Indie rock festival Sonorama Ribera goes to Ibiza has established itself as the perfect plan to round off the summer, attracting plenty of people from mainland Spain.

The fourth edition took place, once again, between the Auditorio Caló de s'Oli (with free entry) and Venice Bay with a total of 17 artists, followed by the aftershow at Summum with Rock Nights. As always, other stuff was happening at the surrounding hotels of the Concept Hotel Group chain, mainly at Grand Paradiso with dj sessions, bingo, etc so there was always somewhere to pop in, to have a drink and to bump into someone you haven't seen for a while.

From the acoustic notes and Catalán lyrics of Suu to the reggae sounds of Green Valley, the line-up was very eclectic but it's fair to say that the names that attracted more people were Raule and especially Chambao, so I can see more artists that mix flamenco with other styles on next year's edition.

The unannounced artist on Saturday was the ex-Izal member Alberto Pérez, now known as Alberttinny. Rumoured names included Loquillo and Ginebras among others, expectations were high I suppose. The set was based on his first solo album Kintsukoroi, released some weeks ago, but the best bit of the show, and the whole festival for me, was to hear "Abrazado a la tristeza" by Extrechinato y Tú (the side project that joined members of Extremoduro and Platero y Tú with the poet Manolo Chinato)... goosebumps moment!

Other favourite moments worth mentioning...

* Comandante Twin joined by Sonorama Ribera founder Javier Ajenjo (who was back on stage after playing with his band Glotón earlier on) to sing "Ser valiente"... their relationship comes a long way and their song "En tu ribera" (a collaboration with Varry Brava, who also played on friday) is actually the hymn of the festival!

* La La Love You and their amusing pop punk songs... they filled the Wizink Center in Madrid last March with more than 15.000 fans in attendance but this was a more up close and personal experience!

* Igloo and their medley featuring "Ni tú ni nadie" by Alaska y Dinarama and "Take on me" by A-ha... cheesy but funny!

* Dorian playing in full band format at last, after three acoustic shows on the island... it was the best possible way to finish with such an energetic show!

Muy buena la entrevista. Me da pena esto de la indoctrinación… Pero aclara lo que comentaba en el otro hilo hace unos meses
