Anyone planning on going? Booked flights & accommodation in December!!

i was thinking of going!!!

ive never been b4 tho ... and would appreciate any info on anything pertaining to SONAR!!!

ie. where to stay? is there a particular area in barcelona that I should be looking to stay (and is that area close to the beach lol *fingers crossed*? are there alot of parties going down (like WMC). what are the good parties to hit! how much are accomodations usually?

plz help with any and all info

Sorry, just noticed your reply there!

In terms of where to stay I'd recommend anywhere that's within walking distance of La Rambla (main touristy street in Barcelona).

The festival is split into day and night events - the daytime events take place at the top of La Rambla right in the centre of the city so if your anywhere near there you should be able to walk to the festival during the day.

The night-time event is held slightly outside the city but regular, cheap buses leave from the bottom of La Rambla to take you to and from the festival site.

The beach is also right at the bottom of La Rambla so you'd be able to walk there too!

More and more Sonar is becoming like Europe's version of the WMC - the whole city is buzzing for the whole week and almost anyone who's anyone in electronic music will be there for at least a few days.

The festival itself lasts three days and three nights but Barcelona has loads of good clubs as well and loads of record labels usually host club nights around the city in various places. Bpitch Control have already confirmed this year - Ellen Allien, Sascha Funke etc will all be playing over the weekend. Sven Vath will be playing Razzmataz on the Friday - James Holden will be playing the same venue on the Thursday. Stephan Bodzin is playing 'Be Cool' on the Saturday, Soma Records are hosting their annual party at La Terrazza - which is an open air club.

Also during the day there's usually beach parties - again held by record labels. Last year Soma, Bpitch, Kompakt & M-nus were among them - the parties are all free. Just take a bottle of wine, lounge around on the beach and listen to dj's like Michael Mayer, Miss Kittin, The Hacker etc play....

Can't recommend the festival enough - don;t think about it - DO IT!!!

are you sure that the beach partys will take place?? I've read that during last two sonar festivalsthe beach partys(m-nus) were shut down by guardia civil ...

i would have liked to go to this, i'm in ibiza at the time, would have been good to pop over to barca from there to go to it.

There were rumours that the beach parties wouldn't be happening this year - but it's now starting to look like they might be going ahead again.

As for last year, I can only speak for the Bpitch Control party which I know got shut down about 10 or 11pm at night - which is probably late enough for a beach party given how much else is on anyway.

Wasn't at the m-nus one but there's a fairly extensive photo gallery of it on the m-nus website and again, it looks as though it ran for a while at least.

As I said - you only really need the beach parties untill 9 or 10 at night before you've got other things to go to anyway.
