> Solomun @ Ibiza Port - 27th September 2017

sadly the port isn‘t really loud at all anymore, not in the day and neither in the night. but that‘s a different topic alltogether

Yes, something missing from the port when I went earlier this month. Both the front line and first line back seemed quieter. Still a lovely place to sit with a few small beers and watch the world go by though during the day

technical issues with the free party, looks like it has finished early :(
Was no issues, they made him stop. He was rolling his eyes then gestured to fans like sorry sorry .. they were coming up to him couple times earlier saying something and it looked like he kept extending it.. so maybe extended it a couple of tracks and then the one dude was super serious this time, Solomun rolled his eyes like wow fine and stepped away from decks after that

and that was way BEFORE midnight, mind you. in the middle of a city, where it's loud everyday at this time of day. sad, really :/
Yeah wasn't that long after 11. And the way they did the sound was great, somehow it didn't carry throughout the port at all and only if you stood in front of the stage...

After it ended, all the bars were blasting music you could hear through the streets and no one cared.

according to the comments on social media last night, people could hear if from can misses, puig den valls, jesus, etc... i suppose the local police got many phone calls from annoyed neighbours so they ended up cutting it short!

No way dude, you couldn't even hear it from the little shops down the street from the old port.. I was walking towards it last night and I wasn't sure if the party was already over or something ... you only started hearing the music while at the port at those few final blocks leading up to the stage.

confirmed on the local tv, TEF:

-they didn't install a sound limiter, as they should have done
-they exceeded the decibels allowed
-plenty of people complained

that's why it was stopped!

Talk about overkill regulation.

New York City has events like this all the time and there are 10,000x's the amount of people. Sounds like Ibiza is turning into a retirement community, christ.

hang on, hasn´t one of those big outdoor events in NYC been shut down maybe a year ago also pretty much because of the same reason? why they didn´t fulfill all the requirements? I vaguely remember a post of chris L about this...

It opened back up and has had 2-3 events weekly all summer.

I'm not even talking about that though since that location is in the middle of nowhere. There are Central Park events, parades, concerts on every pier, etc. In the summer this stuff is non stop. I live across the river and can hear it.

2320 stoppage isn't that terrible but yeah why authorize the party in the first place if they haven't cleared everything with the authorities

It is when the powers that be have already authorised a license for a midnight finish.

It’s taking the p1ss now. People have said for a long time now and I never wanted to believe it (even though I’ve felt it in my mere 10 year “career”). It seems they’re trying to drown out the culture which has made the island what it is... a beautiful place that brings people together who just want to have a lovely time.

It’s a sad state of affairs to see such a hedonistic place crumbling to “the man”.

Hopefully the majority of us still feel like we have to stick it to “the man”!

Long may the party continue.

As I always say to my mates... dance till your dick falls off!!

It's a bit of a shame that a one off event like this gets curtailed but I guess it's a balance between pissing people off and having an attraction. It's not although it happens every week

true! I mean it's a one-off, BEFORE midnight and its FREE ffs. it's not as if somebody is making money on the backs of poor pensioners who can't sleep at 22.00 (which I doubt very much anybody tries to do in spain in summer).

We get shut down all the time, especially recently with things just generally tightening up on the nightlife scene. The BK Mirage was indeed shut down for an entire year. Blk Market suffered greatly last year to shut downs as well as other parties. That said, way different types of events (warehouse/late night mostly), but yea it happens a lot. Sometimes not following the rules and other times i think the city just wants to make things difficult, but happens plenty in NY.
