Solar Eclipse in Ibiza

There's an annular solar eclipse directly over Ibiza on October 3rd at about 9am GMT. This will (probably) coincide with DC10's closing party. OK it's not a total eclipse but imagine the freakiness...

Yup! I saw the total in France in 2000, and it was the strangest thing I've ever seen, brought tears to my eyes for some reason.

It also coincides with my birthday.. Looks like i'll be going to that. Should be a bit crazy!
Last year I demanded all my mates bought me a round. The fact we were at the Space closing and the drinks were about 10 pounds each made it all the better.. ;)

It was like "lights out!"

:D i was in central london the last time we had an eclipse!,everybody came out to see it!,pretty spooky stuff! 8) im sure they could organize an eclipse party for the day somwhere in ibiza!,adds new meaning to the word 'SPACED OUT" LOLLLLLL 8O 8) :D

I saw the total eclipse in Romania in 1999 where the conditions were luckily perfect :D. It was most awe-inspiring event I've ever witnessed (after the first So... that is ;)). Hopefully no one is so mashed in Ibiza that they look directly at the sun during the annular eclipse 8O

I'll be bringing some excellent polarised stuff with me, that I used to watch the total eclipse. It's in sheets so you can grade it according to conditions. We looked through these sheets straight at it and suffered no ill-effects. I'll be handing it out (don't want anyone blinded).

Where were you for it? We were in Amiens.

I can't remember the name of the place! 8O
We drove through Belgium to France, not far from the border. The place we stayed to watch the eclipse at was some kind of sports retreat, there was a hill for skiing which we went up on.
There were some clouds so we didn't see the eclipse at its best, and later we drove a bit further to a village where they told us that they had had clear skies and really good view at the eclipse. Just sooo our luck

 We thought we had really clear skies, it looked ace, and then I saw the photos we'd taken and it was like a cloudy night.

It really was the freakiest thing I've ever seen though. Made me feel incredibly insignificant seeing actual relative movement of two objects in the sky thousands and millions of miles away - got a real feeling of scale. I can see it in my mind now like it had happened 10 minutes ago! (Better actually, die a terrible short-term memory!)

Yeah it definitely is a weird act of nature.
I'm really interested in how the animals react to it. If I can remember correctly I think the birds went quiet for that moment of darkness.
