So what do you get for your money when leasing a bar then?

Just having a little look around, not that I have the money :spank: But got thinking "what do you get for your money with this deal? Been reduced to 50k euros as current owner of lease is retiring, how much would it cost to get it up and running? And who gets the 50k some one will stump up to have a go. Looks like it has a bit of potential especially being open all year round.
How big are the legal costs to acquire such a business? Getting a license? Is it like UK?
Where can I find 50k to make this bad boy mine so I can live the dream???

I haven't got any answers for you, (not ones you would like to hear anyway)
Just wondering if you knew which bar this is? And if not, do you want to know for research purposes?

Looks like it could be the Tall Ships Bar which is near the marina. Not that I have ever been in there as I don't tend to frequent British bars but it looks popular. The other British bar open all year is the Queen Vic.

Hi, nothing sinister about my question just interested.
I am just interested in what kind of costs it would take if you saw an advert such as this and wanted to have a crack. I know the time wouldn't be ideal for throwing away life savings on a venture like this but I have none any way
I was more after information based on hypothetical rather then actual intention of me attempting to try and invest.
If this subject shouldn't or can't be spoke about on here then I apologise I am just interested :)

No worries Ollie, seeing as the bar wasn't named in the link I was going to pm you with the name and address if you didn't know it and were interested.
My financial advice would probably be wrong so not offered, only other advice is be very cautious, not just with this bar,any bar!
Anyway....the cat's out of the bag now!

Looks to me like the 50k would get you the equipment inside and rights to the lease and licenses.
What you don't know (until you do your due diligence) is how much the monthly income and operating costs add up to.
Interesting proposition...

Tempted, Morb?
Always!
Not the first one of these deals I've seen.

Of course. You're the least offensive nationality there is! ;)

Yes, that and our love affair with Alcohol. Thanks for the compliment anyway.......

I would consider the Americans fairly Customer friendly and inoffensive in the service sector. It may be a little false but you are the best at it.

It's been a long time since I've visited this Site and thus late replying.

That's a fair & valid point Bez, however it does not always work out that way given an Irish bar (Murphy's) which was located just outside Es Cana further up from the 3rd reich holiday village of Punta Arabi going towards Cala Martina only lasted a couple of Seasons though I'm not surprised given each time I popped in their with the missus & family the place was always empty.

On saying that, I've not been back to Ibiza this year so perhaps it reopened as another Irish Pub?

@Dave 1, you've placed the former Murphy's wrongly, coming out of Es cana it's before the Punta Arabi complex....but never mind.

It was open as Oscar's for the 2011 season, but as far as I'm aware didn't open at all in 2012.

Thanks for correcting my error & the fact you think it did not open for the 2012 Season perhaps suggests it's in a bad location as I vaguely remember it being somewhat Isolated?

Cheers

NB: Offtopic: My tongue in cheek reference about the 3rd reich holiday village Punta Arabi, is not meant for being offensive as over the years that I have stayed in Es Cana the Complex I feel is just full of young unfriendly Germans. Actually that part of Es Cana thinking about it.

Murphys/Oscars did not open this season at all, it's still up for rent.... The terrace was used as an overspill for the Hippy Market every Wednesday selling stringy vest things!!!

I seem to remember many moons ago (well ok, 2003) that Murphys was packed every night, but maybe other bars have taken the crown from it?

(PS Punta Arabi is also full of young (unfriendly? friendly?) English too now, cos Thomas Cook have got it as a sort of Butlins 18-30 type place!!)
