So... Pleased! - Fri 23 July 2004 at Rhythm Factory

I can’t heap enough praise on everyone involved in Friday’s So… at The Rhythm Factory. That’s DJs, party people, friends, the staff down there and even big Vernon, the head bouncer! (Special mentions to temporary staff Mark Sun, Mr. Scoobie and my ever wonderful girlfriend a.k.a. ‘the current’, who all did stints on the cash desk while I was running around the place. Mr Scoobie seems to like it out there – think there might be a position available in the So… ranks for you there! :D ) Thank you all ever So… much!

BBS & Al did the virtually impossible – tempted people from the front bar into the club at 9pm in the evening. Sterling work chaps and always good to see you guys plus Karen and your gang. (Was disappointed you didn’t have your MAW outfits on though! ) That gave us the start on which to build – I’d say all the DJs turned in best ever performances off the back of it.

Mark Sun – thought that you were as good in the earlier slot as you are normally in the deep dark hours mate. Gutted I didn’t catch Tim Davison in the backroom – I was covering East London with flyers most the time he was on.

The crowd was absolutely great 8) – we had more women in than last time and that always does something for the atmosphere. We were rammed long before Stu Hirst came on at 1.30am, and there wasn’t much of a drop off until gone 4. Stu – we salute you - no-one with half a brain was gonna leave that dancefloor. Your comments in another post on not been confined musically work both ways – you read the crowd and played whatever they wanted to hear – that’s why they reacted So… well. (Hello to Neilly and your lot too!). 8)

I hope you all checked out the deep house crew of Matt Young and friends in the back room from 12 too. Every time I popped in there I heard something I didn’t expect and every time it worked perfectly!

Also good to meet DiscoDude and to see the cream of Spotlighters (only joking those who weren’t there!), including SuperD and friends, Coley, the Scoobies, the Rustys (or is that Rusties? – could end up back on ‘fish’ or ‘fishes’ here) and more. Those I haven’t mentioned by name – apologies it was long weekend and I’ve probably got much more to remember yet.

Again - thank you all ever So… much!

Eyes down for the boat party on August 14! 8)

Really, really enjoyed my set - Anil told me he thinks it was the best set I've ever played, and he's heard me more than most - test driving a slightly different sound for me and was absolutely loving it.

I can't overstate just how good the crowd were too, gave me lots of confidence to try different things, including my first ever CDJ trick :)

Great to see all the spotlighters down there - Coley, sorry I didn't get a chance to chat to you!! Big hugs to Coley, Rusty, SuperD, BBS, Kang, Alan, Discodude and the irrepressable Mr Buckley!

...Ahem and of course Mr & Mrs Scoobie - good to see you guys, hope you had a fab night! Mr S, thanks for the company whilst I was working the door - it's such a glamourous life, the life of a DJ ;)

hey could be worse... Mr B coulda sent you out to work the streets....

Drew, it was rather late in the evening when I bought Buckley a drink and yelled 'this is from Drew' at him - he may just have thought (quite reasonably) that I was a raving lunatic at that point   8O

As El Bucko says, prob the finest So...since the first one.

cheers to Jackin' Mark Sun for the tunes. digging that new style my man, i even liked the breakz. and to Stu for some damn fine, deep crunchy funky madness. even ( ;) ) Dempsey played a blinder.

Mrs RW, left the building at about 2.30 leaving me to my own devices. Thanks to Kang, Ben, Alan, Ferd (+ Isobel), Discodude, Mr & Mrs Scoobie, Anil and, of course, SuperD for keeping me entertained to the very, very end.

The back room was a bit weird. Cool music but a very young crowd. It seemed like no-one from out front made it out back and vice-versa.

This going out malarkey is right fun 8)

I have no recollection of this whatsoever.

Although, hang on a minute, I remember being on the dancefloor and Ben buying me a bottle of Stella - was that one from Drew?

Many thanks Drew - I shall I find a similarly random way of getting the beers from distance. Perhaps a phone call to the bar at Es Vive in September with my credit card at the ready!

Great to say hello to you guys. Buckley and Mark Sun. ( Lovely set fella..had me jiggin my butt of)

I chilled for about 2 hours when I first got in I was so spooned from the 15hr days Id been working all week.

Once Id downed a few rockets I was up n at it and had a fab time although by about half 4 I was well lagging. 8)

Great night and some funky stuff in their also from Stu Hirst ;)

Heres to full time work and getting munted on a cocktail of happy faces....pokey beverages and funky house......luv it 8)

That was the one - Karen told me I had to buy you a drink from Drew and not being one to argue, I did just that!

Don't worry about phoning Es Vive in September, I'll be out there then and buy Drew one from you 8)

I might be there myself yet too - depends on the current's Japan dates and numerous other variables

So lets get this right Ben.

Buckley and I get a free drink and you're out of pocket twice.

Just want to say a BIG thanks to Buckley for allowing the itchysoul crew to take charge of the 2nd room at the rythmn factory.
Glad we can help, had a brilliant night and wicked up for it crowd.

Ray Gibbons of Cross Section records played a stormer as usually with his partner in crime Magoo dancing his little feet away (my he does have small feet). Who needed to go to Sneak beats when we had these two partying hard at So... while their boss was (Chris Simmonds) was down the End.

I really enjoyed my set especially when I laid down Tim Deluxes remix of Seventh Nation Army and the floor went mad.

So... One Big Thanks To Everyone Involved and especially party King Buckley.

Peace, Love and Matt xx
