Smoking (the other...)

We have been experimenting and not been smoking for a month to see if the effects are as marked as tests say they are. Now a month might not seem that long but in 20 years we have probably only gone a week without it and we smoke every night.

I am reporting back to say that we feel no better or worse for abstaining from it. Concentration levels are about the same, and dont feel any more sharper mentally for staying away from smoking - quite disappointed really :?

Only good thing we can come up with is we have saved quite a bit of cash 8)

Anyone else got any thoughts on why this is?

did the apparent shortages force your hand? my heads been lovely and clean for months apart from the usual fotsam and jetsum floating about up there.

When I take breaks I feel less lazy, and my dreams are better (I remember them more often as well). Other than that I think my immune sys works better when I don't smoke.

I don't think a month is long enough to notice a difference. I know I am much more lethargic when I smoke but I don't necessary find that a bad thing. The only problem is the lung thing  I think I am going purchase a vapouriser.

on sat i was quite proud of myself for not having a single social fag, yet on sunday i still felt/smelt like i'd smoked a full pack.

also, if i don't smoke, the smoke in the air really makes my eyes water and i find the atmosphere far too smoky. whereas if i'm smoking this doesn't bother me.

keep up the good work PL, you may not have seen/felt the benefits but you may have added some time onto your life by stopping for a month!;) :D

Isn't PL on about smoking weed not fags :?

If we're talking about fags then I'm still a non-smoker - 3 weeks and counting :D

Well saved a friggin fortune that's for sure that's the only obvious difference I have noticed.

fatphil - well - yes that was a bit of the reasoning behind it - stupid prices for crap quality - nothankyouverymuch!!! Its been absolutely crazy for a while up here

I certainly have not seen any marked difference at all (although the dog does seem a lot more lively of a night   - but I dont know if that's a good thing or a bad thing to be honest.....)

I reckon abstenance is overrated to be honest - off shopping tomorrow I think...

(oh and its been nearly 6 weeks not a month - so the memory is still as poo as ever....   )

I was quite a caner for about 5 years and smoked pretty much every night but have now gone three months without any - I feel a lot livelier and more up for doing things/going places - also my workrate during the day in work has greatly increased .. Definitely wouldn't wanna get back into the routine of smoking it all the time again... But I wouldn't wanna never have any again either --- Just be sensible... Am very glad to have broken free of the psychological addiction though.

I also packed up the ciggies for around 4 weeks but the past week have gone back to smoking them  am fuming with myself !!!!

Couldn't agree more. I caned for about 15 years, every day. Haven't touched the stuff for over 10 years now and I remember how much more life I had in me a couple of months after I gave up

I did quite the opposite at the weekend, I'd not smoked dope for 5 or 6 years and I got stoned as a bat on Saturday night...

My results are as follows

I experienced extreme lethargy, an increase in appetite towards the end of the night and my concentration levels dropped to such a point that I couldn't focus enough to stay awake and passed out on the floor.

Conclusion: Inconclusive

Am I the only one who's just never enjoyed smoking? I've tried it loads but its never done anything for me that I have enjoyed and thought would like to do it again.
It doesn't even chill me out, sometimes it's made my heart race, other times its made me feel sick, other times its made me really mongy. I just dont get it!

But this is the weird thing - whether I smoke or not, I am quite hyper, i dont become withdrawn or uncommunitative, I am pretty sociable anyway and I dont smoke stuff that makes me lethargic , if anything its of a bouncy silly giggly variety......

My work certainly hasnt suffered I get yearly reports and am marked as "exceeds " always get a good payrise, and been offered promotion twice.

v.strange ......
