Not posted on here for a looong time but still been an island-goer in the meantime.
just got back on sunday from a 4 day break with 2 friends who had moved to oz but had come home to get married, anyway.... to the point.
Went to sankeys on the thursday for redlight, booked vip as a sort of wedding celebration kinda thing and picked the night sanchez was meant to be playing, i am not one for being seperated from the masses in a vip booth and all that shit but obviously in my old age, now i am as all 4 of us said how much it was worth it, not getting your toes stood on and wrestling at the bar (the bride had a toe injury already) so this was a godsend) and for £150ea you got 2x 70cl bottles of spirit and mixers & water, for anyone who has been i think there are only 2 of these booths in the basement and its not just a table with 4 chairs round it surrounded by other people with the same set up this was a booth which would comfortably cater for 8 with 2 sofa beds at a right angle with your drinks table in the middle of the two.
had our own waitress for the night who was really good crack dancing about always asking if we had a drink etc, we got a fair few waters and more mixers so about 6am when we were leaving she had said she would see if we owed anything on top, fair enough, she came back and said we had actually only spent 730e-odd out of the 800e, so no sly end of night tactics trying to prise more money out of you, she actually poured some vodka from the next booths bottle into ours after they had left which i thought was very good of her! shame sanchez got cancelled for whatever reason as the music wasnt for me, not a garage fan, would definitely do it again thought, security i can't comment on as we didn't really have to be that vigilant if in the booth if you catch my drift.
Zoo. went on the saturday 2 days after sankeys, got some paint on as the lasses insisted so just got a bowie-esque eye thing which my sunglasses covered mostly, we set off at 7, 10 mins taxi up the road, i had been splitting some ghosts 30 mins of so earlier in the room and had eaten some crumbs (which turned out to be about half of one) so by the time we got to zoo in the 32-degree heat all i wanted was in and shade/drink, there was a queue we waited in for about 15 mins there is not a lot of shade in the queue either just for anyone who is wondering, had my man bag searched not massively thoroughly if i am honest then in and a drink which i thought were reasonable and didnt go up later on/different bars.
set up was great first time id ever been, loads of spots to chill out and the main stage is great, great lights and enough room, clean enough loos and also a bbq if you want that sort of thing a bit earlier on. would definitely come back here, enjoyed myself more than sankeys, maybe due to the earlier finish as to not fook your next day up too much, one point i will say the security are tight with a 'T' here, so don't be daft and i am sure you will be fine. taxi queue was a bit of a mare we left at 11.30 but in zoos defence the tight security came in handy kicking jumpers back to the back, good work.
