Quick review from the other night. Was looking forward to this one as Dennis Ferrer was on before Shimza.
Not sure what else can be said about Ferrer, he just plays mother fuc*king house music as good as anyone can. He was having the time of his life and so were the crowd. He finished with a version of Streetlife that caused absolute scenes.
Shimza came on about 03:30 with the crowd warmed up. It’s lazy to compare him to Black Coffee (but I’m going to), as I think they have a difference style. Shimza is faster, sometimes really fast. This isn’t like parts of a BC or Keinemusik set where sometimes you fall asleep for 10 mins. For me Shimza creates a better party vibe. You can’t not smile from ear to ear when you experience him. Didn’t catch much on Shazam, but that makes it even more special.
Great move by Chinois signing Shimza, and hopefully he’s back next season. Though as much as I love the venue, holycow can you imagine Shimza playing a full Pacha when it totally kicks off - now that would be something to experience!
