Hmmm, though he is my fave from days of yore 8) I have been hearing that his sets as of late are not too impressionable :? Agent just saw him at Burning Man last weekend and said he was less than stunning :x

Tix are $35 PRESALE 8O My fave local DJ, Pauli P, and Victor Dinaire are opening. I like paying for DJ's to show patronage, but it is possible I may be able to swing a freebie on this one. What do you think?

Well you know my opinions on the Oakenphant :lol: ;) Tbh he was pretty good @ Get Loaded the other week the half hour he played :roll: Problem with Oakie these days is that he's either really good or really shit, if you catch him on one of the former days then you might catch him as good as his heydays, if you catch him on the latter then you'll wish you hadn't bothered.
 
EXACTLY. I saw him two years ago in San Diego, and he BLEW MY FRIGGIN MIND away!! Seen him three times since, and one time was really good, the other two were so-so. I like to always have faith, you know?

He was the guy who got me in to electronic music, so I almost feel like I owe it to him :D
 
A legend, but he is really shit now ..... I say no. Is there anyone else on about instead?

of days gone by but haven't seen for ages (apart from sunset @ mambo) but that doesn't really count... I say give him the benefit of the doubt if a former hero particularly if there's a couple of local guys you wanna see anyway...

on another completely different note have to ask where you order you cd's from?

I buy them from amazon.com and amazon.co.uk if I can't wait (UK gets electronic dance releases about a month before we do, the majority of the time). I also pick them up from Tower Records in San Diego. They have one of the largest selections of dance music I have seen here, and all their new releases tend to be on sale. Plus, they often can order stuff for me for free.

I know it seems like I must be broke from buying music :roll: but most of the time I buy the CD's used from amazon (sometimes at half the price!) and try to do the super saver shipping deal.

On yet another sidenote ;) I had a gander at your awesome pics! They are great. I especially love this one of Cala 'd Hort... WOW

$35! No flippin' way. I would much rather spend the $35 for a great Spanish dinner and a pitcher of Sangria at Costa Brava.
 
Well, as sad as it makes me to say this... I might have to sit this one out (unless I can get a freebie).

Just too many disgraceful reviews from too many trustworthy peeps lately, spotlight and non... thank you all for your help with this decision as usual. I am low on cash right now and I have a cold... two more reasons to not go.

I am probably going to be disgusted and ancy at around 1:30AM or so Friday when I know he is on though.... will make it a point to buy a massive bottle of wine so I can sleep at night :lol: :lol:

Kool thanks I did see a couple of tips for albums which I must get round to getting particularly tiefschwarz and Steve Porter - will give amazon a go 8)

That day at Cala 'd Hort seems like a lifetime ago now back in dreary rainy England :( .... Still until next year :D :D there's always the pics!

Thank you. It doesn't feel like it right now though :cry: :cry: I am having a serious fit of Oakie remorse LOL. A friend just called asking if he could ride with me there... he was so convinced I was going!! But I know I shouldn't because:

1. Too much money
2. Prolly won't be a good show (besides DJ Pauli P, who I get to see every week though)
3. Don't feel well, coming off a cold.

OK, now that I have justified it, bring on the wine 8) 8) Shouldn't be drinking, but hey, wine is good for the heart!! Doesn't matter if its one glass or 8, right?

Well, I heard from friends that he stunk 8O 8O

Said he was super wasted and could barely even beat match. $hitty. :roll:

SOOOO glad I didn't go. Would have been like watching a champion racehorse stumble down the track, pun intended. Painful. :(
