WHAT AN EVENING!!!!!!!!!
SO... Scott calls me literally minutes before I know I have to leave for LA... so I grab the funkiest outfit I could think of, toothbrush, and PJ's... we hit the road. Didn't wear a stitch of makeup besides a lil gloss... knew I was just gonna sweat it all off anyways (so I might look sorta drab when the pics come lol). We made it in 1:15, which is like a miracle drive from SD to LA.
Lets just say that my respect for Tiesto has been totally restored. Going in to the show, I had no idea what to expect... for the past year or so, every time I had seen Tiesto his sets had been so banging hard and unenjoyable... thought he had become poop.
The show was just PRISTINE. The coluseum was sold out, and that means about 10,000 people were there. Thats a pretty massive crowd for a DJ set in the US of A. We barely needed that ridiculous light show he provided... the sea of gleaming smiles in the crowd could have supplied the arena with all the necessary wattage.
The opening was dramatic... could barely hear with all the cheering. He played a few slower hits to tease us before lighting up an epic mix of Love Comes again. The set would get a little hard at times, but it was more moving and beautifully executed than I had ever heard by Tijs. Filled with several Nyana gems and a few from his new album, including my fave, Luminary's "My World."
Suddenly during a breakdown about midway through, I hear a lady's voice asking us how we are doing. It was Jes!!! Looking utterly smashing in bright red vinyl hip huggers and platinum blonde cornrow braids. Though I am straight as an arrow, I found myself feeling quite lesbionic during her performance

She performed Motorcycle's "As The Rush Comes" and "Waterfalls" from ISOS4... and another one I can't remember the name of. People.... her voice sounds eight times better live than it does on CD, and it was positively adorable to watch her dance behind Tijs as he turned to smile up at her. Because I am sooooo cool and got to be in VIP (totally joking kids LOL), I got to meet her and give her accolades... what a sweetheart.
Tiesto spun by himself some more, and he had the place going absolutely ape$hit... I thought the walls were going to cave in. One thing I noticed, is though he is still just as high-energy as ever to watch, there is a humble quality to his attitude that I really liked to see. He was sure to pay homage to the crowd several times, and of course never released his wide, crinkly grin at all during the evening.
After Jes, four men (dressed in skin tight body suits painted like muscles and organs with no skin from head to toe) performed Cirque de Soleil-like acrobatics to the tunes. Preposterous strength and talent. Next was a deliciously killer live drum set from a bunch of big dudes with mowhawks. WOW... they banged away in time to two or three songs in time with Tiesto. WICKED!!!!
The set ended with a few more songs I'd recognized from the new album CD 2 (there were unlimited free drinks in VIP so I am a lil hazy about which ones

), while bushels of confetti dripped from the ceiling. And of course the quintessential Tiesto walking up front stage with his arms held high for like ten minutes LOL. I was stunned and on air.
OH and the T-shirts they gave out were pretty sick lol. AMAZING show people... definitely worth the pricey tickets and more.
Then it was off to Avalon in Hollywood for Gus Gus and Kaskade. >PG takes deep breath<

Putting this one on another post so I don't steal Tiesto's fire

LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!! -XO Sara
