Scooters in Formentera

OK, this is a really dumb question, but is it easy to drive a scooter? I've never driven one (or a motorcycle) so I'm a bit nervous. It seems like it's the best way to see Formentera, but I'm worried I'll crash the damn thing and break my head open! Have any of you just hired one without any experience and had success???

don't worry, driving a scooter is about the same as riding a bycicle...

just rent one when you arrive in the port, there are loads of rental stations. they'll show you how to use it and equip you with a helmet. just take it easy for the first kms until you're feeling okay driving the scooter at a higher speed. and formentera is small enough so you don't have to race like a madman over there anyway...
 
On the subject of scooters in Formentera, does anyone know if you need to bring your passport to hire one or whether a driving license will be OK? Also, can you get two people on a scooter or do you have to hire one each? And if anyone has any ideas of what the cost is for a day, that would be really helpful.

two people on one scooter is ok.
i think you'll need a passport / id. not sure about the driving license...?

i think a scooter will cost you about 25€-30€ for one day.
 
keep your eyes peeled on our formentera section where you'll soon be able to reserve eco friendly electro scooters online.
 
I noticed the Formentera section appears to be growing there, Stephen.... a sign of things to come?

yes, these suckers are quite expensive - more then a rentalcar @ ibiza.

... and the owners of the scooterrentalagencies will all be millionaires
at the end of the season, if only a certain percentage of the "boatpeople"
are going to rent a smelly scooter this year to reach
the beaches of ses illetes and espalmador :-)

saw a report about these new formentera scooters on tv last weekend - good idea.

but are they producing the electricity "eco friendly" ?
