Satellite Internet - - Anyone got it / Know anyone who has it ??

Hi Guys

I've just been told by every provider that my apartment in Cala Vadella is too far from a 'Box' to get normal broadband. Does anyone have satellite internet?

I've seen www.Tooway.com do it with various price plans, including I think a pay as you go type deal for second homes.

Has anyone used them? I heard that it works great, when working but if it stops working no one comes to fix it for ages whilst you're still paying each month.

Are you on Facebook? If so try the group 'Ibiza winter residents' and ask the question there you'll get much quicker help. Also the Ibiza sun(Ibizan) has an ad section with satellite internet companies based there that will be able to help.

I have friends that had tooway, It was expensive but seemed reliable, They had one close lightning strike that wiped out the receiver, But that was fixed with a quick box swap, The company they had it from is not here any more but I believe http://www.fusionsatellite-ibiza.co.uk/ are one of the better suppliers
To add, I have tried 3G & Wimax, 3G is ok if you can get a reasonable mobile signal but you have to pay for data, Wimax, unlimited data but you need to be line of sight with mast (and hope it works,,, most days,,,) We are getting 4 G soon

After checking out FB Ibiza Winter residents I decided to go with http://www.fusionsatellite-ibiza.co.uk/ Paul from Fusion was great, even sorted out my old 1.2m Sky dish to receive bbc itv etc. for only 40 euros for a new LNB. Fantastic 20mb speeds but it is expensive compared to others. IMO its worth it. Every guest wants Wi-Fi these days

People suggested it might stop working in the future and I'd still have to pay but I'm getting invoiced in the UK in sterling each month so no DD. If it does stop working, I'll stop paying and let them try and take me to court in the UK.
