Sasha and John Digweed's epic landmark offering, 'Renaissance - The Mix Collection' is being re-released this November! Renaissance head honcho Geoff Oakes remarks on the move:
"Releasing this album again, which is the holy grail for us 10 years since the original release, was the ultimate justification for doing it, and working on the project has brought back some fantastic memories. The re-mastering has really brought out the best in an incredible album that still deserves its plaudits as the best (dance) compilation ever. It's a 'must-own' album that we are all still very proud of!"

Sasha and Diggers gave the album a full pre-master overhaul, tweaking the frequencies to maximise clarity and brightness. The studio re-master has thus used modern applications that weren't available 10 years ago; reducing background hiss and those annoying little clicks and whistles.

'Renaissance - The Mix Collection' records a snapshot in time, a golden age for UK dance music. Artists featured include Leftfield, Fluke, Grace, Sunscreem, Bedrock, OMD, Lemon Interupt, 2 Bad Mice, Kym Mazelle, EMF, Age Of Love and many more. The original triple CD set was the first club-based compilation to go Gold in the UK, selling 100,000 copies within six weeks of release and is widely acknowledged as a heavy influence on modern dance compilations. Since its original release, the album has gone on to attain an immense status - one the greatest dance albums of all time perhaps? Re-mastered and presented in new, luxury packaging based on the original artwork, this re-release may also touch some fresh, first time ears alongside those seasoned listeners.

All in all, we are told that the album sounds even better than it ever did before, opening up a whole new dimension that will surprise even the most ardent and familiar fan! (

Awesome! I may have to buy the new version :!: To think it could actually sound better than it did would be awesome, as you cannot get much better than the original....a true classic i must say. :)

Update on this: looks like a Nov 8th release. nice ;)

in the mean time - listen to their "live" version of it from May! All the tracks remixed and played live by them at the Renaissance party. wicked.

The originals go for stupid money £100 + on ebay (probably not anymore  )

Can anyone who owns give a bit of a review/rundown of the 3CDS. As this compilation is a classic but ive never had a chance to listern to it.

easy - its amazing.

A classic dance album of the highest order...firstly because it was arguably the first house album to be sold as a proper cd in its own right - i say that because its important to realise that in 1993/1994 the only house music that you could really buy was mixed on tapes and sold for £6.99 in clothes shops!!!!

Secondly and most importantly its because the music is really astonishing. Classic Sahsa and Digweed in their prime...its just a timeless peice of house history - you need to own it. Simple! 8)
