Someone who has just started in the office requested an advance because she's having trouble making ends meet before pay day.

She went to the MD who OK'd it and told her to speak to Sarah and Sue to get £100 from petty cash.

Sarah and Sue looked at each other blankly and said it wouldn't be possible because there wasn't enough in petty cash to last...*in very shirty tone* "We'll have to write you a cheque...what do you need it for and when will you pay it back?"

In the end, she had to bypass them because they got so upset and the MD had to sort it out.
