I'm pleased this has been announced after the rumour the other day they will not be opening their doors again this summer, as I never got the opportunity to go in 2011, but...

they really need to pull it out of the bag this year I think.

The reason I didn't go because I couldnt find the place! Ok, granted I was especially desperate to find it, and settled for an alternative option spur of the moment in the end.

But its by-and-large well documented that they are in far from a prime location. "Off-the-beaten-track" may be a bit of an overstatement, but the fact is I saw precisely 0% PR in PdB last summer which struck me as not only odd, but commercially suicidal.

Maybe I was walking around with my head in the sand... but I was fully aware of the countless bars on the strip, plus Space promoters etc.

I've heard good reviews, and also reviews that while they praised the quality of the nights and liked the venue, slammed how quiet the club was.

What was the point in investing all the money on refurbing a previously failed-location and then not putting your product out there?!

Come on Sankeys! Up your game! You can start off by getting Ferry to stick it out with you for another season.

was reading the post above... went to Sankeys on two occasions... once for Monza... its was one of the best nights of the holiday... and also for the closing party... the place was packed and jumping... Lawler (thanks for letting me know who was playing kimjay) ripped the place up!!

Best way to describe how to get there.... walk along to where the bucking bull ride thingy is (just near Garbi hotel)... once you get to the bull on the corner walk up that street... once you get to the first junction there is Sankeys... Its really not hard to find...

Oh... and loads of PR staff... we got wrist bands for both events... maybe it was because it was later in the season and they had got things going more??

DEFINITELY going back this season..

Went to full on ferry at Sankeys last year, one of the highlights of my holiday! Its nice being in a smaller club, the atmosphere was amazing!

100% agree. I had one of the best ever nights I have experienced in a club in Ibiza this year at Sankeys (maybe the fact that there aren't PR's pushing to get the dregs in you get a better, more knowledgable crowd?) and last year was my 15th anninversary so I dont make this comment lightly.

oh and I will add, that the door staff are excellent. we turned up one day and they basically told us it was not worht going, there were only a dozen people etc, recommended we came back the next night which we did. on the next night, one of my mates got unnecessary, the guys at the door looked after him and before the end of the night he was back on the dancefloor. that is quality stewardship in my view.

The different rooms are awesome and the rooftop is great. Maybe too great because everyone is always up there! The problem with being a smaller sized club is it's harder for them to afford top djs. I think they need to attract people a little differently than just by the headliner. I think last year was a good start and this year will be even better.

hey, what I have learnt is that a big dj does not make a night, infact up-and-comings are 9/10 better as they are willing to push the boundaries. when we went it was awesome and in my view, sankeys can become a really perfect niche club for new talent if the clientele is the same as the times I went in 2011.

Yea same! It was the highlight of my holiday too, I got photos with Ferry Corsten and met and had a chat with John O'Callaghan at the back of the club, wicked club!

It's refreshing being in a small club in Ibiza, where you can have a quick chat with the DJs if you want. Certainly can't do that in Amnesia or Priv. lol.

FoF on my final night last year was one of the best nights of the holiday for me too

Had a great night in sankeys last year after ch zoo.
Lauhaus and shaun reeves playing :)
Wasnt jam packed, side rooms empty etc, but enough to keep good atmosphere in the main room.

Would definatley recommend it if theres djs playing that you fancy its a nice change from tthe big clubs

Having seen some of the lineups for this year its definitely a step up from the 2011 season!

Departure will be hosting a room over the opening weekend of 24th and 25th May and at various points over the season.

Have to admit I'm more excited at seeing what's happening here than what's come out viz the bigger clubs.

No sign of Full on Ferry...

!
After a sublime first season in Ibiza which saw Sankeys become the toast of the island's underground scene, the club is back this summer with an even bigger agenda.

From Thursday May 24th to Tuesday October 9th, Sankeys Ibiza has already booked over 100 parties from the leading lights of electronica. It's a who's who roster of immense talent sourced from the finest house and techno exponents, including revered agency and promoters Air London, seminal Manchester and London based legends Bugged Out!, Sankeys in-house sessions from Carnival, brick lane posse Fuse, Heidi's famed Jackathon, Junk Department, fresh new sounds from Kaluki, Krankbrother, Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom, Ibiza icons Monza, long-running warehouse party specialists mulletover, Steve LAWLER's vIVA Music. Each is in the magical spirit of Sankeys itself, yet each will bring something different to the island's newest venue.

In realising one of his longest-held ambitions, Sankeys' director David Vincent undertook a huge challenge in bringing the globally famed club's ethos from Manchester to the White Isle.

“Last summer was an absolute rollercoaster,” he explains. “I can't deny there were some tense moments, especially building up to the grand opening weekend when it was all hands on deck and everyone was flat out right until the first people came in. There was always an element of the unknown coming to Ibiza, but I am happy to say the response last summer was phenomenal. Once everything had clicked we realised we had something really unique, especially so from the European and international crowds who showed us incredible support and Ibiza's workers who were looking for something different. There were some amazing shows throughout the summer, but the last four closing parties were truly magical, from Villalobos and the Monza event to the curtain raiser with Steve Lawler, Enzo Siragusa& Tini. I've taken a lot of my inspiration for 2012 from those events in seeing what is possible to achieve, and believe I have already booked some even better hosts and resident parties for each week and we have only just begun.”

With Sankeys in Manchester celebrating its 18th anniversary this summer and Sankeys NYC opening soon too, the club continues to evolve and remains one of the world's foremost bastions of electronic music and culture.
