San Antonio v. San Antonio Bay

Hey Everyone,

This will be my first trip to Ibiza. I'm going with three friends and we all like the idea of partying in San Antonio, but thought that maybe it would be a good idea to find a place outside of the action so that we can regulate the amount of craziness we're subjected to. Any thoughts on this plan?

Are they in walking distance of each other? How long of a cab ride?

We are also looking for some great beaches for the daytime.

We found a great deal on the Sol Pinet Playa hotel so we're thinking of staying there, anyone know anything about this hotel? Apparently its right on the beach.

San Antonio Bay is more of a family resort, not to say there aren't young clubbers staying there, but thats the main difference.

The Bay has much nicer and bigger beaches and a good selection of restaurants and bars. There is one smallish club there and a good place to catch the sunset. San An Town has The West End and Eden & Es Paradis and of course the sunset strip.

For info on location etc see here:

The island is small enough that you won't want to limit yourself to either one of these two resorts anyway.

pinet playa

the pinet playa hotel is a nice hotel, takes 15 minto walk into san an town centre...and loads of good cheap pubs on the way...much better staying in the bay...plus you pass my bar on the way:lol: pop in for a cocktail xxxxxxxxx sue

yer i say stay in the bay!!!!
sol pinet playa is right on the beach, and its quite a nice beach too!!! watching the aqua airobics in the hotel pool is very funny!!!!!
and as sue said pop in Pink Panther along the way, Sue and her BIG JUGS will welcome you!!!!

I am staying in San Antonio all June and half of July is this a bad choice? Is it safe and will I ever sleep? Good location for walking distance to get food, water, clubs, beaches? Thanks

fc,

If you are staying for any length of time, I would recommend Playa' den bossa over san antonio any day.. but that is just my opinion.. you may like it..

its all a matter of personal choice, i would choose San An/Bay over PDB anyday but as i said its all personal choice. at the end of the day its what u make it urself, there are sum fab places and people in San An.

Vikkims is right, it comes down to personal choice, there are some good a bad spots in the bay but it still my preference over playa den bossa

fcnational.....where abouts are you staying in the bay!

6 weeks

i think has you are staying for 6 weeks, it doesnt matter where you stay, the island is that small you will be able try everywhere..and decide where you like...transport is great and regular...or bikes and cars cheap to hire...At the end of the day a great holiday is the people you meet!!!!! Personally i much prefer san antonio bay to live, but like to visit all areas xxx If you pop in the pink panther bar in san antonio bay, bring a map and i will point out some places to see, restaurants, clubs ect ...

fc are you hiring a car? most of the nice beaches you need a car to get to. I highly recommend it, then your location isn't so important.

Ibiza is a great island and you will need a car to see what it has to offer..

If you spend all your time in San Antonio, I think you would leave Ibiza without seeing the best bits.. also, the amount you would pay to get a taxi (you're on your own right?) for a night out in a club outside San Antonio will cost more than a daily car rental.

Dont' worry too much. some love san an.. but I love the atmosphere way way way more in PDB than in San Antonio.

I can't comment on how loud San an is as i've never stayed there.

No , it is not within walking distance to all the beaches.. you will need a car for this

is your booking finalised?

I always stay in San Antonio- the place is exactly what you make of it. There's plenty of culture during the day, quality beaches a short boat ride away, some incredible restaurants, and of course, the sunset strip. As for how quiet, last year I stayed in a hotel right on the edge of the (in)famous West End, and never had a problem sleeping at all. Don't let people's comments put you off- San Antonio Town is a quality place, though I prefer to avoid the West End at night as the crowd tend to be much younger than I, and more 'one-dimensional' in the way they seek their enjoyment. Also, I don't drive, and won't risk hiring a scooter, but the bus service is cheap and effective, and taxi's are cheaper than you might be led to believe. I'm sure you'll have a great time- I always have!

yes the trip is booked and 100% final! I am looking forward to it and yes I am going alone. I thought there were a few beaches only 5-10 minutes walking from san antonio town? i know a lot of the better beaches are farther away yet a simple beach close by would be nice.

how do i get to the real nice eachother in PDB and other parts of the island? how much is the bus and does it go there and how much is the boat,. how long of a ride and where do i catch it? I think I'm staying a few blocks away from cafe del mar!

FC,
I'm sure you will have a great time.. I went to my own to Ibiza 2 years ago and it was great.. I didn't have a car my first year, last year I did, and realised that the beaches were sooooooooooo much nicer when you have a car to get to them. the buses don't go to all of them.. and it can be a real pain to get around... much better appreciation of the island the second time

You said you were there for 6 weeks, make sure you hire a car for some of the time you are there so you can explore the island.

The boats go from the front at San Antonio (head towards the fountains and you'll see the signs) to Cala Bassa and Cala Conta- both cracking beaches!!! They're only a couple of Euros. The bus service is very cheap- more details on transport here:

FC,

Ive been to Ibiza 7 times now. And every year since the first year, i have stayed in more expensive hotels in quieter locations.

The best time ive ever had on that island, i stayed slap bang in the middle of the west end!;)

Enjoy!

Its true, does not matter where you stay in Ibiza, you can get around the island easily enough.
There are a couple of hotels in Cala Gracio (other side of san an from the bay) which are great if you wanna be close to the madness of san an yet if a peacefull secluded area with a cute beach at the same time. This is also a nice walk to sunset strip. Only trouble is you will find lots of kids in these hotels.
