San Antonio Bay

Hi there folks, first post from me :-)

Me and a mate have just booked 2 weeks in San An Bay from the 28th July.
I really wanted to be in Playa Den Bossa but just haven't been able to find anything in budget (or at all actually!) so had to make to do with San An Bay.
I always swore I'd never stay that side of the Island, both times I've been have stayed in Figeurates...I'm gay and it 's more my thing, plus close to the best clubs..bora bora etc:)

But this time San An Bay was the only option and am getting a bit worried I may hate it now. I know there's bus services and stuff but..well, you know!

I love Ibiza and hope I'm still going to have a great time.
I don't have a massive problem occasionally going out in San An, if there are some cool places..but am dreading it being full of beer boys and the time/difficulties in getting to Ibiza Town etc. Phew! :)

Any thoughs appreciated.

You'll be fine, San An Bay is much quieter than San An Town and you can easily ignore the West End.

Plus you can always jump in a taxi to get to the other side, or even get a bus if money is tight.

What is it about the west end that people wish to avoid?? i was there in June/July last year, and I found it fine!?!

If that's really the case, that's fine, all the more places to go!

The West End is loads better than what it was a few years ago, they are really trying to improve the place. Stopped bar crawls which seems to have made a difference and there are a few nice bars there now such as Plastik and Hush. Also the sunset strip, I know a few people on here knock it saying its to commercial blah, blah, blah but imo its still a superb spot. I'd say there is loads more to do in San An than say PDB where all you really have is Bora Bora & Space.

i think the bay's great. i have a beerfest plus taxi home planned for this week sometime. i can't make up my mind whether to watch the supremes tribute or the commitments tribute at the caff royal after a few snifters in the bars. set 'em up sue

motown's a bit cheesey. i like the rawness of chess and stax. otis, wilson and the others

Just want to say 2 things.

Firstly, I agree in that the West End is not as bad as it used to be. The police now have more of a presence and whilst I was there recently, I didn't see one bit of bad behaviour (apart from a few Scottish people doing childish things).

Secondly, I have stayed in the bay 6 times out of 8 and find that there are some great bars and restaurants there. Check out Pink Panthers, cheesy and cool at the same time. Go to Leandros for breakfast - run by brother and sister Juan and Maria, really lovely people. Go to Amsterdam for dinner or Jackie Browns - both serve exceptional food (if you get the Paella from Amsterdam, make sure there is at least 3 of you).

Above restaurants are kinda opposite Hotel Nautlius, whilst Leandros is a bit further up close to corner where Klippe is.

Thanks for all the replies guys...can't wait to get there!!!!!

I've never really done the sunset strip on previous visits so am looking forward to it now:-)

Are there any gay-ish bars in the area too? Not overly fussed if there isn't ,just be nice to know.

Cheerios.

coooooo eeey,

yes stephen i will prepare 1 of my big jugs for your immenant arrival  and ainsey many of the bars have a great cosmopolitan feel , attitudes are very liberal, but i dont think there are any gay only bars in san an, but many of the bars employ gay staff , so you will be made to feel very welcome. The only people who do not fit in and are not welcome are aggressive people.SMILE AT THE WORLD AND THE WORLD SMILES BACK.STEPHEN POWLEY I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR ARRIVAL IN MY CHEESY AND COOL BAR(PINK PANTHER) SAY HELLO AND I WILL BUY YOU A COCKTAIL XXX
