San An?

Hi everyone,

I went to Ibiza for the first time last year and we stayed in Port Des Torrent as we wanted to be kind of out the way of all the busyness and were free to choose where we wanted to go etc etc. We also went all inclusive which in some ways was good as free drinks until gone 11 and nice food but in other ways I guess we didnt get to check out any restaurants which is kind of what holidays are about.

Anyway we are going back this July but are torn between going to our original place of last year or maybe staying in San Antonio. The reason being our place last year is working out to be a lot more money then it was last year, think it could be something to do with having air con fitted now - we are not sure.

So as much as we dont want to do it on the cheap and end up in some 18-30s place we are trying to minimise the cost in ways we can. We thought staying in San An might be the answer and go self catering. But we really dont want to end up somewhere tacky so to put it (I just remember being lost in San Antonio last year on the bar street or whatever its called where there is a crossroads and I really didnt like it).

Any suggestions?

emma,

you can stay in san an in the middle of the west end ("bar street";)) and still not really have what goes on there affect you too much. that area is only a tiny proportion of the whole of the san an.

http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/maps/san_antonio.htm

have a look at this map, zoom into the bottom right quarter and the west end area is around the number 13 (c/ santa agnes)

tbh, i would say any other area in the whole of the rest of san an would be fine for you. just use this site and ask for reviews or use tripadvisor or brochures and you'll find somewhere just right.

Thanks very much, will have a look at that. Be nice to go somewhere different but at the same time want just as good a time as last year!

Can you tell me the difference between San An and the bay? Is there that much distance between them?

First Choice say you have to get a bus between

Hi Emma how're you doing!?

I'd recommend Garbi in Playa De Bossa, its airconditioned and is close to Bora Bora, Space, etc and easy to get into Eivissa, Ses Salines, KM5, etc, by bus or taxi . I stayed in September last year. Didn't we bump into each other at Bora Bora in July? I found it easy to get about without hiring a car and theres agood atmosphere without the San An crowding. Plus if you book with Garbi direct its quite good value, plus Im staying there so it couldnt get any better!!

my advice would be to pick a hotel/aprt that looks ok in a brochure/website, then work out where it is, then search on here for reviews and then if ask about it on here if you want.

some parts that are classed as the bay can be as close to the centre of san an (the egg/fountains) as some areas out of the back of the west end in san an centre. so don't rule out all areas of the bay.

see here http://www.ibiza-spotlight.com/maps/san_antonio_bay01.htm the egg is under where it says marco polo.

if you stay further around the bay, i'd say you can walk it in about 30 mins (45 in your high heels)............but you can get a regular bus or better still, a boat that goes across the bay.

so in general, don't rule out the bay cos it could be close to the centre. moreover, the bay is a bit more relaxed than the centre of san an, less 18-30 type places.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, although I am only 23 and people think I am a 18-30 person I am really not into all that and we deliberately avoided all that last year so dont really want to be somewhere surrounded by yobbos.

Might go for the Bay then, a 30 or 45 min walk :p is nothing really. Found a nice hotel on Eclipse who we usually book our hols with, might check it out.

Ive stayed in the Hotel Hawaii in San An Bay a few years ago, was ideal location, 20 min walk along the bay to San An, it is situated by the windmill , mate of mine stayed at Bellamar across the road from Hawaii and said it was really nice again a few years ago now..

Thats the one I found on Eclipse, thanks for the info, might make a decision to go there

Yes I remember going Bar M last year, quite liked it in there

also, if you do end up going to another part of the island (to a club or whatever) then its easier from near hawaii as taxis pass frequently and the bus station/taxi ranks are easily walkable.

Yeah thats good, some of the places we went to last year they were a bit reluctant to go where we was, they were more interested in going San An way as more fares and trips I guess

Yeah but its hard to beat a good feed in a restaurant in the Villa (Sa Torretta is good) but there are loads then down into Pacha or El Divino, or dinner at Pikes then into Privilege

Me and gal pal are deciding this weekend, most likely be Hotel Hawaii I think. Am quite looking forward to having more freedom to explore rather then feel we are wasting our all inclusive.

The Bahia and Palmyra (both close to Hawaii) are really nice too Emma. Both of those are available as either apartments/aparthotel or you can get meals there.

Hi Emma,

What was the hotel like/called that you went to in Port Des Torrent? Would you recommend it? What is the resort like there? What was the food like?

We went All incl to the Hotel Bergantin San An Bay, All incl to Hotel Miami in Es Cana.

We are returning to Hotel Miami again this year, but are considering other places for the first week. Like yourself, we had a fantastic time, just considering other places for a change. We are all around the 30 mark, so a bit older than you :( , with 2 kids between us aged 6 and 3, so all incl is perfect for us.
