San An Promenade

I understand that they are planning to construct a promenade from the Bay through to Coastline, where they are also going to construct a marina. Is this correct? and does anybody know when this is to start?

If its true I wonder how it will effect the bars on the sunset strip.

all i know

my friends own an apartment in one of the blocks next to savanah and they are gonna lose 1/2 there pool area and sun terrace!!!!! mambo, cafe del mar and savanah havent got much to lose in the first place !!!!!!! 8O

Most of the sunset strip bars use the beach areas in front of their bars, Mambo has sunbeds on their frontage, Savannah and Sunsea have decked terrace areas and around at Calle Soletat, Kanya and Coastine have pool areas. I assume they will lose these areas once the development takes place.

The times I've been to Kanya theyve never used that pool at all but would still be ashame to see it go

It was my first time in Ibiza this year and I have to say that the best experience was sitting outside Mambo from Sunset till it shut at 4AM.

They must be mad if they plan to build a Marina infront of it, why change a place that is perfect as it is......

The government of Ibiza should be putting money into preserving the island as it is without encouraging the building of more motorways, more overpriced bars and apartments... it just seems that everywhere just wants to cash in...

one could argue that the strip of coast you refer to was perfect before mambo was built. let's face it, it's architecture is hardly sympathetic, its music policy at odds with the peace and quiet of the area as it was, and its prices clearly belong in the 'cashing in' category.

having said that, the idea of sitting in the same bar for 6 or 7 hours has a certain appeal.........

I hear what your saying, it's by no means cheap at Mambo, having said that, for me, it is one of the most chilled out friendly places that I have ever been!

I just think that if they keep building then the whole island is going to become more and more like a tacky tourist resort, even more so than it is already in places.
