Sad news...

Got told today a family friends son has died aged 43 in ibiza after being there for just 24 hours or so!

I havent seen the bloke in years or really know him well as he is a lot older than me, but his mom has been my uncles secretary for as long as i can remember, and when my dad started his business he worked for him during the first few years. Details are sketchy at the moment as we only found out this afternoon.

All we know at the moment is that he was sitting in the lobby/reception area of his hotel this morning (not sure where he was staying as of yet) After a while one of the managers had noticed he hadnt moved for a while and went over to check if he was ok. Sadly he had passed away....

Such a horrible story, he had travelled on his own and was due to stay for a week.

I pray to god it is nothing to do with drugs or anything like that but i suspect it may be with such a sudden death like that.

As you imagine his mom is in bits.... I dont suppose anyone has heard anything?

His name was Neil (not sure of his second name)
 
thanks for your reply, yeah i completely understand that. i dont really expect anyone to have anything to say on the matter really as it is a sad subject if you know what i mean.

I was hoping someone may have been at the same hotel at the time or something like that, a bit farfetched i know but always hope i suppose.

Will find out more tomorrow i imagine.

Do you know if he had arranged to meet up with anyone else travelling alone!?? Would he have been on any Facebook pages for doing Ibiza alone?!?! There are a few...

Im not sure to be honest mate, but that is a good idea for me to look into tomorrow when i get chance. Im sure he must have spoken to someone at least whilst out there. Again i didnt really know him at all as he is about 15 years older than me. but his mom is a good friend of my uncles and my dad has known them all for years. i couldnt guess at what he could have been up to or where he would have gone for a night out for example.

Im just trying to find out anything i can for the family if possible as it must be horrible not knowing what happened in the hours leading upto his death. I know this forum is the place to go for anything Ibiza wise so i thought i would try here incase there was anything useful i could pass on to his family. Im sure my dad will get an update of some sort off my uncle tomorrow depending on what the family of neil have found out.

Obviously anyone reading this who has heard anything or was with Neil in Ibiza, or was even in the same hotel as him please let me know, again i know its very unlikely with not much info from myself but anything i can pass on to the family would be helpful im sure.

Havent had chance to post the past couple of days as i have been really busy.

I havent had any more news yet as my uncle doesnt want to ring and bother the family yet, im sure they will be in touch soon to inform us of whats going on.

Thanks for your very generous offer @Dan Gruner sorry i didnt get back to you sooner. I would rather you have enjoyed the rest of your break as that is more important for you. But as i said thank you very much for your offer, not many people out there who would offer a stranger help like that !

Btw Ibiza solo 2016 is the parallel group for next year's discussion. Ibiza get together 2015 used to be ibiza solo 2015.

Had a quick look and can't see any member with first name of Neil. Doesn't mean he didn't meet anyone off there though. Ta.

Sorry i havent had chance to update you all but i have been extremely busy the past week or so..

Right, my cousin told me yesterday that Neil had actually died of natural causes and not a drugs as i had wrongly suspected. He was lying on a sunlounger, two other guests had noticed he hadnt moved for a fair while and told the manager. The manager then went and checked on him and found him dead.

My cousin also told me that he had MS and Diabetes, and had a few problems in the past with drink and drugs. His mom flew out to ibiza the day after being phoned by the police to confirm his identity etc. My uncle had to phone consulates and stuff to organise bringing the body back as neils dad is also ill and confined to indoors. It has hit the dad the hardest as they were like soulmates. His mom has gone back to work to try and take her mind off things while they wait for body to come back for closure.

Oh such awful news, I'm sorry to hear this has happened.
I'm glad they said it was natural causes as I'm sure that would've been on his parents mind, given his past. So he fell asleep in the glorious sun and thought wow this is perfect.
 
Yeah horrible thing to happen, only been there 24 hours or so!
Was definetly glad to hear it was natural causes and nothing else, death alone is bad enough but drugs is whole different level i suppose especially after his past experiences.

Yep i cant think of any other place i would want to leave earth (to put it nicely lol) than ibiza, at least he must have passed being happy and that i think is something that maybe softens the blow slightly !
