Rio Question for Conrado

Conrado,
Have you ever been to Sky Lounge in Lagoa? It used to be Meli Melo, I think. If so what is it like? Worth going to? I've been to Baronetti which is OK, Melt is just so-so, 00 is great and I've never been to Nuths.
What can you recommend?
Nightlife in Rio is always a bit confusing. At one club, I remember there was a line for girls and another line for guys (I think the club was Base on the bottom floor of the Sofitel hotel). Strange environment: very young girls wearing very skimpy outfits and huge guys standing around shirtless and looking aggressive (I think you call them "Pit Bulls" there).
Any feedback would be of interest.

Be careful of pit bulls clubs, with huge body building aggressive looking guys and sluty girls. They belong to the Brazilian jiu-jitsu tribe and they love finding arguments to wrestle (did you notice the boys ears, destroyed from rubbing them against the mat used as floor-covering to practice the sport, it's considered charming among them) they still don't know the proper way to party 8O ...

I've never been to Sky Lounge (although I was almost there yesterday), but there are some good after parties going on there (yes, Sky Lounge used to be Méli Mélo). There was also a good party yesterday at Baronetti, but I couldn't go because I had to work today. Baronetti is a good option on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Sky Lounge is a good option for Saturdays, 00 is a good option on Thursdays and Sundays.

The best parties in Rio aren't on clubs. There's a new club I'm going to today, which is called DLR. The producers of the party Delírio decided to open a club, I'll probably be going there tonight. The party Delírio used to happen on the top of Morro da Urca (the smaller hill of the Sugar Loaf), and there's still some good clubbing going on there. The last Delírio party I've been to, had Derrick Carter playing at Morro da Urca.

Check also the Calendar for Fundição Progresso. It's not a club, but many good parties happen there. 00 has now been going thru a rebuilt and it seems like it's much better, still part open air, part indoors.

Since you know Brazil and Brazilians, you probably know we're not as good in planning anything as we are on partying, so I can't tell you for sure what will be going on during Carnaval. We have to wait until January to see what's going on, but there's this new club DLR, and Pacha Island, and Morro da Urca will open regularly during the Summer, and I think there's a new club opening soon, plus the big openair parties for 15 thousand people (mostly psy-trance) off Rio almost every weekend. It's gonna be a nice Summer, for sure.

Obrigado, meu irmao!
I am actually next going to be in Rio 9-15 March, so a week or so after Carnaval.
I'll probably post you another message shortly beforehand to see what's going in in Rio. I have heard that the Morro de Urca can be a blast. I hope they don't destroy 00 in the remodel - I really like that place and go every time I'm in Rio (there and Porcao's Rio - can't beat that place).

I just booked today my stay in Trancoso for Carnaval week - Pousada Estrela d'Agua. I partied, but did not stay, there for the last New Years eve and like it alot. I hope Trancoso will be as fun and crazy (incredible raves on the beaches - NO COPS) as New Years!
Then again, there is sun, friendly people, beautiful beaches, good food and incredible scenery - those in themselves will ensure happiness!
