never had it this bad before, was it particularly loud.

i dont use them myself but many of my 'younger' 'friends' reccomend them

i felt more comfortable at carnival cos all of sudden everything became audible again.

I have ER15s that are opaque and discreet. They filter the sound so that the "trashy" high pitched sound that causes ringing and damage aren't heard. It's like having a walkman in your ears. All i hear is the music and the crowd noise doesnt exist. You can still talk normally and hear each other just like you would if you didnt have ear plugs.
