are you f'ing sorted to go already??! how di you get ticket?

we are at best going to be watching it with ian st john in a function room at anfield.

good yet bad at the same time.

not got a ticket yet. glad i was proactive cos there are no hotel rooms in athens and flights are extortionate! £300 all in. jobs a good 'un!

Riga rocks. Wonderful city.

That evening, take a stroll around the old town. Even on a Thursday night it should be quite active.

There's a great cheap place with delicious Latvian food. I think it's on Jauniela st.

For clubs, Nautilus is the tops. DJ Bauer (an occasional Spotlighter) is a DJ there and Mark Sun has played there once or twice as well. http://www.nautilus.lv

There's a cheesier club called Roxy which is also in the old town but it was hopping even on weekday nights I was there.

There was also a cool bar and underground club that I visited. I forgot the name but it's directly across the street from the Forums Hotel (a nice inexpensive boutique hotel, by the way).

Scratch all that ^, it's a town (almost embarassingly nowadays) made for British Stag do's, with corresponding night activities.

There are small bit's of stunning original architectre that let's face it will not even get a look in in your 24 hour bender that will be either a celebration carry on of momentus proportions, or a drowning of sorrows of equal measure. For that purpose there are more than enough bars!

I would recommend starting off however, in the Syline bar, which is unmissable as a 40 odd storey hotel with a bar at the top (you don't have to stay at the hotel to drink in the bar) walk down into town you'll eventually stumble upon a square with quite a few bits going on around it, and a very good Argentinian steak house (wholeheartedly recommended).

Clubwise we only went to a massive cheesy-ish disco (though we had Prydz playing when I was out there!) who's name excapes me that was on a corner just a short walk from the main drag (and round the corner from the previously mentioned Skyline bar).

Be warned, the locals make the British women look rather ugly!

Alll in all it's a very accomodating place (with regards to handling drunken guys!), due to the explosion of the stag do trade. PLus it's certainly not as dangerous or dare I say scary as other Eastern European towns I've been to.

Of course, this could all be wrong, and if anyone wants a guide to Vilnius in Lithuania, then this could also be it as I went to both quite close to each other and have been known to get the two confused!

I've been to both. Vilnius on a stag weekend and Riga just for a visit (and Russian visa renewal).

Riga is definitely the better of the two.

If you go on a stag weekend, then that's what you'll have (though the one I attended in Vilnius was rather subdued and we did take in the sites and the good nightlife).

But Riga is not really about that at all. Even if you're celebrating, I'd try to take in the sites while you're there.

Try CLUB Essential in RIGA. Friend of mine was there recently. Some times there playing good Djs, and its kinda big club. Club divided on 4 sections, as I remember, and in each section different tunes. City great as well, lots of medeval buildings, like in Tallinn if you ever been there.

Just go to the old town area. You can walk across it in 10-15 minutes... it's not very large, but there are a few things to see in terms of architecture and such.

The old town is the area bordered by the 3 big roads and that park. You can see the main square towards the west, and it's around there and north/northwest of there that you'll see some interesting sites. Perhaps start there, but you should be able to see most of the area in the time you have,.
