Rhythm Plate emerges from the depths once again with more exceptional electronic house for those who remember their classic releases on Mantis. The smoky, yet refined vocals of Pegy are a pleasure on "Blues at Sunrise," but my favorite is, hands down, "I'll Be," with its warm synth pads and punchy square wave bassline. Another fine project from Rhythm Plate and another quality release from Flat & Round.

‘Blues at Sunrise’ opens another fine Flat & Round release with rasping beats, and cracking vocals courtesy of Pegy. The warped nature and tech hints create a memorable track that oozes vocal class. ‘I’ll Be’ is more break beat industrial, electro body-popping in a way with more Pegy vocals leading the way into a hybrid track. ‘Across the Delta’ lifts the tempo to some bygone era of Biorhythmic house. Sharp electro chords and electro-filtered vocals lead me into another daydream of sweaty clubs, glow sticks and time before Altern 8. The ‘YSE Remix’ of the same track adds a menacing undercurrent to the tune and a smouldering sax in the distance. A mixed collection of style all worthy of your attention, ear-catching for their innovative qualities...

Im really feeling "Across The Delta" Its got that classic Deep House sound. I love those sweet vocal bits, so sweet! The bassline is
so nice, warm and round. Delicious synth pads. Absolutely excellent! I really like the other tunes too!

Rhythm Plate consist of Ant Plate and Matt Rhythm, two friends who met at school through a mutual love of shoplifting and warm real ale. plate constantly varies in age and rhythm gets younger by the day. hailing from the beautifully backward peak district town of matlock, in derbyshire, they began recording their efforts on a borrowed 8-track tape player down in the local bus station. early attempts at pop stardom however were hampered by the duo's crippling tourette's syndrome. after conquering the bourgeoning village hall/pub scene in matlock they set their sights on taking over the midlands through collabs with mantis (derby), DiY (nottingham) and procreation (birmingham) - they find the transpeak bus service a particularly useful way of getting to gigs - and then eventually the world, by releasing material on record labels "not from 'round 'ere" such as san diego's bluem, san fransico's roam and, portland's own, losofono (lsf).at present plate sells deep house insurance and rhythm is a dancer. should the need arise they are both willing to travel to djing gigs with their much-sought-after collection of cassette singles at the ready.
