The boat party on Saturday was a good laugh, thanks to everyone who came along. Glad a lot of you were singing Rocketman throughout the week !
Filthy Gorgeous was also looking good, although I had a stomach bug from hell. Unfortunately most of the rest of the week doesn't deserve many column inches, there was only one party last week and Sven rocked it again.
Perhaps I am just getting older, or I keep being dragged to the West End so much that it dampens my spirit, but I can take or leave much of Ibiza at the moment - especially the whole "worker" vibe in San An. I appreciate people are having a great time, but if I have to hear another story of "how I was so f*cked last night on ket" - i'm going to scream.
Perhaps i'm not fulfilling what I believe there is to see out there, so invariably come back a little disappointed a lot of the time.
Anyway, whinge over, as long as the mighty Cocoon keep putting on parties, I will still be there, as once again they have outdone themselves.
We got in at midnight and picked our spot. I thought Andre Galluzi played a perfect warm up before Sven. Sven played probably the best set i've ever heard from him, perhaps predictable amongst the underground techno crowd, but that's what he does best. Tune of the night? Gregor Tresher's "Full Range Madness" and Rolando's "Knights Of The Jaguar".
Half way through his set, it became apparent Sven had had a lager shandy or two, and lost the ability to mix, however his antics kept us all amused ! At one point he had two bouncers hold both his feet as he was held upside down above the crowd, from the balcony !
One of his great set of friends, Michael, passed on directions to the after party, so after a quick change of clothes, we headed along. These afters are what i've been waiting for for years with Cocoon, proper messy dirty music and a great crowd. All the usual names turned up to dance, Hawtin, Morillo, Lazarus, Luciano etc, although Hawtin refusing to let us take his picture was a bit disappointing - nice to see some dj's still let their ego get the better of them.
I think we left about 4:30pm but I wish we hadn't, as it went on till 9pm.
I cannot wait until the closing.
