Flew back into East Midlands last night after a week of fun, so thought I'd share what we got up to this year while it's still fresh in my mind, and because I enjoy reading everybody elses reviews so much.
Wednesday 26th
After paying only 200 pounds for a week including flights we weren't expecting much from the Ebano Apartments in Playa D'en Bossa but upon arrival we were happy with a nice clean and spacious 2 bedroom apartment in a good location not far from all of the action. There were supposed to be 3 of us only the holiday but Dags managed to put himself in a wheelchair for 8 weeks after a mad night out so he didn't make it (2 broken heels and a fractured vertebrae - ouch!).
We had a few beers in our usual haunts (Manoa, Tantra etc), got our tickets for Subliminal @ Pacha and headed on down. All in all this was an ok night but I got quite...actually very frustrated at Morillo using the siren way too excessively and not just to signify the ice cannon going off (was that there last year ? I dont remember it).
Thursday 27th
After reading good reviews on here about KM5, we booked a table beforehand and caught a taxi up there. This restaurant is beautiful and we were made to feel welcome. The food was very good, nothing amazing but very good. After nailing some expensive wine and fillet steaks our bill was 200 euros between 2 of us so no complains there. After the meal we chilled in the lounge garden and then headed inside for a few drinks and a bit of a dance. There's a really good atmosphere inside KM5 and we had a good night and met some nice people. I'd also REALLY reccomend the mohitos they serve, 10 euros a pop but worth every penny!
After KM5 we headed down to Bora Bora to meet some friends at about 3am. It was fairly dead but still a nice way to end the night. This was where I saw my first and only major police presence on the island where some guy was getting searched and arrested in the restaurant area. Apparently he'd been dealing quite blatantly in the corner so fair enough.
Friday 28th
We caught some rays during the day and then headed down to Bora Bora to meet our mates who were back at it. I think we spent a couple of not particularly enjoyable hours there (mainly because our mates were smashed) before deciding to leave and head off to Pacha where we had a table for 5 booked for 10.30pm. Due to the state the other 2 were in and the fact that the 5th member was in a wheelchair back home this quickly became a table for 2 but the staff in the Pacha restaurant didn't seem to mind.
I was expecting the prices to be ridiculous in Pacha Restaurant but I was completely wrong. House red wine, 12 euros a bottle and Izadi red was 17 euros. We had starters, main courses (duck & John Dory) followed by coffees, amarettos and a bottle of Cava to take out (plus the two bottles of red) and the bill was only about 180 euros, which of course included entry to the club. The quality of the food was amazing, and I'm never going back to Pacha again without doing it this way. We met some great guys from Denmark on the table next to us and spent the night dancing away and chilling with them and although I dont rememer a huge amount about the night I remember the music and atmosphere being good and we all had a great night. Pete Tong though.....he looked MASSIVE !! Has he put some weight on ?
Saturday 29th
Woke up about 2.30pm and did a little sunbathing. Then headed to Bora Bora about 4pm and had 3 excellent hours dancing in there. No major stickout tunes for me this year though, infact it all seems a little less electro this year to me, which is maybe a good thing for some but not me.
Sunday 30th
Headed to Space for about 4pm and struggled to get into it for a while. Premier Etage had a good atmosphere and the terrace downstairs was good but very very busy. Eventually we got going and really enjoyed the terrace downstairs until midnight when we had to move. We eventually ended up listening to Groove Armada but it was absolutely rammed and we thought they were awful....besides we were knackered then too so called it a night and saved ourselves for DC10.
Monday 1st
We got picked up by the guys we met in Pacha and had a few beers / vodkas etc in the DC10 car park. This was great fun as we were talking to loads of people who were all having a great time. I didn't really know what to expect of DC10 but once inside we really liked it and had a great time. I thought Tania Volcano was excellent. Towards the end it all started to get a bit repetitive / minimal techno for me so we called it a night and walked back to Playa D'en Bossa which was a good idea because i felt pretty lowsy by now.
Tues / Wed 2nd and 3rd
We hoped to get some sunbathing in for the last 2 days but mother nature pretty much put and end to that. The only thing of note was a meal we had at the Moorea Restaurant at the front of Jet apartments. This place looked lovely but was really disappointing, probably the worst meal we had so I wouldn't reccomend that. We did find a good spot for breakfast just a couple of doors down from the Ebano - Cafe Ole I think it was called and did a good job sorting my headaches / stomachaches out.
Overall a good time, and I'll definitely go at this time of the season again as the clubs aren't as rammed as they are just one week earlier. Find of the season was deffo the Pacha restaurant, a really good way to start a night out.
