I've finally grown a few brain cells back and managed to write something up, here ya go....
Friday 18th / Saturday 19th June
Met Ruben, Alex and his mate Luke at Liverpool street to get the Stansted express. get to the airport and meet the rest of Alex’s gang (lovely bunch of people btw), check in, do spot of shopping and the flight leaves on time. Alex did try to jinx it by saying his flights are always delayed but we were lucky this time . Get to Ibiza pick up hire car and check into Mar Y Playa hotel in Figueretas. Nice hotel, we have a great big apartment with air con and a big balcony, and all dirt cheap thanks to a mate. Quick shower and go down to meet Jon and Becki at the Rock Bar which is rammed, saw a few familiar Ibiza faces, that guy Vaughn, and the guy with a huge snake . A few vodka limons later, and we meet up with Alex and his mates to go to Pacha at about 2.30. It was so good to be back there I never fail to get that wow factor when I walk into Pacha, especially as they’ve got those beautiful laterns over the dancefloor again for Pure Pacha. Kenny Dope is already on, and he doesn’t disappoint, plays a very predictable set of classics but it goes down a treat, memorable tracks were Danny Krivits mix of Strings of Life, Harry Choo Choo feat. Robert Owens - I go back, Hardsoul feat Ron Carroll – Back Together, Deep Inside, Beautiful People, Jungle Brothers - I’ll House You and Promised Land (much to Jonathans delight ). Tongy finishes off the night nicely and we leave at the end at 7.30 and go for a few beers at a bar just down the road from Pacha. Seeing as it’s such a lovely day me, Jon, and Bec decide it’s a good idea to walk back to Figueretas via Dalt Villa, these things are always such a good idea at the time finally get to Figueretas after asking a few dog walkers the way and having a conversation on the phone with a very excited Babs, by this stage we’re starting to flag a bit so we have a quick drink at a bar on the beach in Figueretas and head up to my apartment to wake Ruben up which he’s not too happy about Jon and Bec decide to head back to their hotel and freshen up (lightweights! ) and I went down to the beach for a few hours sun before Ru wakes up and comes down to join me and we drive to Cala d’Hort to go to Del Carmen for a lovely lunch over looking Es Vedra. After half an hour of being on the beach there Jon, Bec, Fireman Sam and Clare pop up to say hi and surprise us spent the afternoon on the beach, swimming and relaxing then drive over to San An and watch sunset at Kumharas which I was really impressed with, will definitely be going there again in september. The dj played Chicago - if you leave me now just as the sun was setting, it was one of those ‘ahhhh’ moments. After a few drinks Jon and Bec suggested we go to the curry club for some food now we weren’t really embracing this idea and I got it into my head that it was going to be some dodgy west end establishment but we got there and we’re pleasantly surprised. Had a great meal in a lovely setting, all in all the perfect end to a perfect day Finally get to bed at about 1am after 2 days with no sleep ZZZZzzzzzzz
Sunday 20th / Monday 21st
Get up at 8 and head over to El Hotel to pick up a very giddy Babs and Tom bump into Mr and Mrs Scoobie in the hotel It's so good to see Babs, and she manages to get me as excited as she is Head back to drop car off in Figueretas, go for a quick drink by the pool at Es Vive and walk down to PDB where we had lovely breakfast and nice bottle of Rose at Passion, the others get their space tickets (€35 with a pass out) and we head over to space just after 3. Get in and Jonathan Ulysses already has the terrace rocking nicely 8) Meet up with Alex, Rachel and her gang, Sync and Aussie Leah and spunky monkey and co. Tom Novy comes on 5-7 and plays an absolutely storming set and gets the terrace going off big time 8) 8) Rooty played 7-9 and although we did enjoy them they weren’t as good as last year. Steve Lawler came on 9 – 12.30 and played an absolutely fantastic funking tastic set, certainly the best I’ve ever seen him play, he finished off with 3 classics in a row Robin S – show me love, FPI Project – Everybody (all over the world), D’Lacy – Hideaway and had everyone singing along, another one of ‘those’ moments Went inside for Todd Terry where everything goes a bit hazy, but I can remember the lights and sound inside Space this year being awesome! Left space about 3am and go for a few drinks in PDB then head back to Sar and Toms hotel for more wine and shenanigans. Monday lunchtime we decide the thought of DC10 is and head over to Bora Bora, meet Jon and Bec have a boogie and leave to watch football, have some food and head back to get ready for the round 4 Jon and bec pick us up in taxi, head over to Babs hotel for some wines and buy Pacha tickets. Rachel, Steven and his gang turn up and Babs room is getting a bit cramped so we head over to Pacha for Roger Sanchez. Decide to sit on terrace for first hour and chill for a bit and then go down for some S-Man action. I’ve never heard him before and he certainly didn’t disappoint, kept us dancing all night which was definitely an achievement by this point believe me! I wouldn’t hesitate about going back to this night, the crowd was much better than other nights at Pacha I’ve been to and surprisingly our gang was still on top form and they even decide to play the ‘take it in turns to do a funny dance in the circle’ game at which point Alex and I ran off and hid on the terrace lol . Left Pacha at 6.45 all smiley after a wicked night and headed back to the hotel for a few hours of that sleep malarkey ZZZzzzz
Tuesday
After 4 hours sleep, packed, checked out of hotel at 12 (which we’d had hardly seen ) , and went to pick Sar, Tom and Rachel up, and guess what??? They still hadn’t been to sleep Drove over to Rachels gorgeous villa in San Jose where we chilled, swam (well had hours of fun with a floating purple pole ) and sunbathed for a few hours. Later on we decide to go to Bora Bora for one last boogie before we go home On the way down there Sar finally falls asleep in the back of the Car so we drop her and Tom back at their hotel and Me and Ru head into Ibiza town for lunch at a nice place (which I can’t remember the name of ) on that lovely square with palm trees behind Vara de Ray. Drive down to bora bora where they play Silicone Soul – Right On, couldn’t have asked for a better song to end the holiday! 8) Say goodbye to Jon, Bec and Sync and Ruben and I go for a bite to eat at Passion, where once again the food was lovely. Head to airport and thankfully flight leaves on time, get home at 3am exhausted but very happy
