Review 12th to 15th September 2007

Just to put you in the picture. I am 35 years young and my mate Stupot is 36. We have both been into dance music since the early nineties but as we both now have a pair of kids each so the clubbing has suffered somewhat. We have been going to the odd night in Manchester, Stupot has CD decks and I have been DJ ing on vinyl since 1996. I have managed to move with the times musically I think but Stupot prefers things a bit HK. I booked this back in December so the anticipation was killing me.

Wed 12th

Flight from Manchester on Thompsonfly and arrived just before 7pm. We had a few drinks in the airport bar and then on the flight which got things going a bit. Lovely and warm feeling as I got off the plane (no I had not pi%$ed myself) and through to baggage reclaim where my bag came off first!! I think this was a good omen. Through arrivals hall where we were given a wristband by a PR for free entrance to Amnesia before 2. This was my first trip sine 1998 and I had forgotten the persistency of these workers. We had planned to go to DC10 that night so we lobbed them in our bags and forgot about it. Taxi to Lux Mar in Figueretas for 8pm and were pleasantly surprised with the room for the money (£144 for 3 nights for both) and were fine for us. We were in the Tropical gardens although there was nothing Tropical about it. I asked for a Sea View but got a Rock Face, wasn’t really arsed though because if I leaned over the balcony I could see the sea. We went for a walk to the shop for the usual milk, water and ML’s. Neither of us smokes full time but when we go out we go mad on them. On the way back we went for a steak meal on the front at Figueroa’s. I could not help noticing that it was quiet and Stupot couldn’t help noticing the amount of blokes. I had forgotten to tell him it was a bit of a gay resort. Whilst we were sat at the table there we two young lads sat next to us, tanned and good looking. At the point Stupot said to me “Have you got the Fags” I knew what he meant. He wanted a cigarette. All four of us looked at each other with blank faces. I gave Stupot a fag and started talking about football.

We went back to the room and got changed. I think we went out about midnight. We set off walking towards Es Vive and arrived there to find the gate locked. I had been told to get Supefreq tickets from there for 10E. We eventually got buzzed in but the bar was shutting. I thought this place was the place to be. We soon left and started to walk to PDB. I stayed next to Es Vive some time ago and remembered walking into PDB. What I had not remembered was that Stupot can moan for England and that it was about 30 minute walk. I never heard the last of it all holiday. We eventually stopped at a bar playing videos from DC10. The sound was drowned out by locals having there own party over the road next to a car playing music. It was on the main road just up from the turn off to Bora Bora. So I had a walk round on my own where I was met with about 5 or 6 security guards on the entrance. I walked around to the front. It was all fenced off and it was like the Moon bar. My heart sank. I was planning to come hear quite a lot. On the beach side of the fence it was covered in litter with pissed up people collapsed on the sand. Welcome to Ibiza!!
I walked back round to Stupot and enquired about DC10 tickets with staff at the bar. We left and walked up towards Space with the intention of getting a Taxi outside but were approached by a PR outside Tantra who got us inside and bought our tickets for 10E for DC10. Short taxi journey and we pulled up outside about 2am where it was really quiet and no queue, walking straight in. This is a really great club but the terrace was not open. It was not packed enough for my liking and the dance floor was a bit sparse. What a sound system though. The cooling fans/aircon was a blessing. The drinks were not too pricey either. Stupot did not like the music and didn’t let himself go. It was not 100% my cup of Tetley either but I just got on with it. My reason for going there were a) there was nothing else on that night that I fancied. b) Wanted to go to DC10. c) Wanted to show Stupot an “underground” type club. d) Had heard so much about MR C.
I had not realised how minimal it was though and Stupot was looking at me as if I had walked into hi house and pi%$ed on his kids. I find that just dancing helps and I just lose myself in the noise. Stupot was just standing there. We left about 4.30am withot seeing MR C, taxi back to the room and had a ML and a brew.

Thurs 13th

It was Stupots young lad’s birthday today and he had set his alarm to ring him about 9am. I woke up just before his alarm went off and did not go back off. Now I am an 8 hour sleep man, nothing more nothing less. I could hear him mild snoring and I just lay there helpless. We got up about 1130am and went for some breaky down the road. We then walked to the bus stop and got the 1.30pm to Salinas. This beach is awesome. South facing, 4 bars/restaurants, loads of women to look at and chilled vibes. Was a bit cloudy though. We got the 5 o’clock bus back and went for a couple of pints and a pizza on the front at Figueretas. We got back to the room at 7pm for a disco nap and guess what? Stupot went off to sleep and I just lay there. I could not even do the usual things to help me sleep. I think I nodded off for about ½ an hour. We got up and dressed and walked into Ibiza Town about 10.30pm via the tunnel. We had no bars in mind and stopped at one on a corner on the harbour about 100m up. I think it had a connection with El Divino. We ordered 2 small beers and the girl brought the tab. It was 10E basically for 2 of the smallest beers known to man. We were thinking about doing a runner into the back streets just on principal but I bottled it and we paid. We then moved back along the harbour towards the centre where we sat and enjoyed a bottle of Rose for 11E which was much better. We got a Taxi to Pacha about 12am and they were queuing already. What were we going to do? Don’t panic, we had booked a table at the restaurant. Went up to a guy stood on the right who confirmed our booking and then we sailed in the club, past the queue which felt great. The club was quiet but the restaurant was rammed and our table was not ready. Was I bothered? Negative. I walked into the club for some ML’s at one point and it looked weird when empty. Back in the restaurant we stood at the bar and watched the guys making Sushi and perused the menu. We sat down about 1am and ordered. We had an hor doerve, starter, main, desert, two beers, a bottle of red wine and a martini (which we took into the club) Low and behold whilst we were stood there Axwell and Guetta came in with the Pacha chaperone and sat right next to us. I was like a big kid and even contemplated asking them for their autographs but I wasn’t that sad. I could see Axwell was getting on edge as he was playing about 2.30am and his leg was bouncing up and down. I can honestly say that this was the best meal I have had in ages taking into account everything. Just don’t order Scallops or you will be getting a bag of chips half an hour later. It beats me as to why you would go to Pacha and not go to the restaurant, we paid 140E in total for 2 and then waltzed straight in to the main room where Stupot was blown away the atmosphere. It was rammed and Axwell was rocking the gaff wearing his diamond encrusted headphones. I have not seen such a presence before behind the decks and his mixing, choice of tunes was superb. At one point he came on the mic and said “We are going to take things up a level now.” Spine Tingling. Lots of skill with accapelllas etc. He reminded me of a cross between Healy and Sanchez for his presence. I was gutted when he finished and Guetta came on so we went in the Global Room and listened to Paul Taylor for about an hour than chilled out on terrace before finishing off in the main room and left at the last song (anyone remember what it was?) We got back to Figueretas about 8am and collapsed.

Fri 14th

I ended up waking about 12pm and tearing off tights with my teeth again. Had a shower and Stupot got up about 1pm. We went for some breaky on the front a Figueretas and then collapsed on the beach and sunbathed in the cloud. Another unlucky day weather wise. Looked at some peaches, had a bottle of pop and watched the tramps. Within no time we were back and gettting changed. We were going out early to watch the sunset at San An. My last experience of this good so I was really looking forward to it. We got the bus passing Amnesia and Privilege which made me think “Why didn’t we go there on Wednesday?” Arrived in San An about 6.30 and walked to the sunset strip. It was still cloudy but somehow I thought it would change. Stupot was hungry so we sat down at Savannah and ordered Nachos and for mains a Beef Pasta Soya Sauce thingy which was not that nice. I had wanted to walk around to Kanya and Coastline but he was adamant that Savannah was the one. Luckily the weather did change to very windy so that took my mind off no sunset. We then had a walk to Kanya and had a small beer and then back round to Mambo where Tongy was mixing things up on his “Laptop.” I think he had just put a premixed CD on. It was crowded so we had a walk down to CDM and chilled with a couple of beers. We got the 11.30pm bus back and had a beer at the room and went to bed about 1am.

Sat 15th

Up at 8.00am and sadly packed our stuff away. It was off to Space today for Matinee. We sat down for breakfast about 10am but I was panicking that if we got there too late with our Internet tickets (Spotlight) that they would not let us in It had stated on them to be there before 10am. I made Stupot rush his breaky and got aTaxi that stopped at every red light to PDB. As we arrived at 10.30am we made our way to the guest list entrance and bypassed the 3 people in the normal queue. First we went in discoteca and this was good. Then the terrace (new) and this was even better. I like Space. It’s full of hardcore dance music fans which I like. The Sound System is out of this world. We went between the two rooms all day. Not sure who the Disc Jockeys were but they rocked. Top mix of Blue Monday at one point. Its great drinking in the day. Bar Staff were miserable though. We met a guy from work as well which was cool and spoke to him and his mates for a bit. There was also some weirdo in an orange t shirt and shorts with grey hair who was about 45years old who I kept on trying to avoid. We left at 4pm and went to the Supermarket for a can of wifebeater. Sat and drank this on the beach and walked the 100m or so to Bora Bora. Yes!!! They had taken the fences down I had seen the other night and the scruff bags on the beach had been replaced by beautiful girls. This place is just as I remember it. It was a lot busier though and 6E a pint. We stayed until 6.30pm. Sun was shining and I felt good and just wanted to stay forever. Unfortunately I don’t think Mrs C would have liked it. We got a Joe back to Figueretas and I had a seafood pizza avec pomme frites and a nice glass of wine. Stupot had a steak and half my chips and a glass of coke (lightweight). I got a present for my two girls as we walked back. We got to the airport about 9pm and chatted to some girls from Didsbury in the queue for check in. One of them had lost her voice she had been partying that hard. Flight was more or less on time and Mrs C picked me up at 1.30am at Manchester which was a nice surprise. I went back home and told her all about it then took out my frustrations.

Great holiday in all. I just wish I was there longer. People at work say stuff like. “Ooh I can’t believe your missus lets you go” and “Big box small Box” and “Are you having drugs?”
They have no idea and its each to there own. Electronic music is addictive and so is the culture which surrounds it and Ibiza is the place to do it. I do it without drugs, women and making boxes and just pace myself (hence the early night on Friday) I would sacrifice not going out all year to go to Ibiza. That’s how much I enjoy it.

I am just off on the decks to try and DJ like Axwell!!!!!

Chilling out on the terrace ... my idea of heaven. :) Did you see my baby in the champagne glass?

maybe she already had to retire to make room for
the fresh new 2008-pacha-girl-in-a-champagne-glass-delivery :)

If they're all as beautiful and captivating as my baby, I will pitch a tent at Pacha.
And they can deliver them to NYC to train during the winter!

Thats one of the funniest reviews i have read on here. Hope I am doing the seam in 8 yrs time.

i wonder how long your "love" lasts this time :)

do you remember what you wrote about the stewardess:

august2005:
"... I met a flight attendant from Qantas Airways. ...
She was very beautiful ... like Catherine Zeta-Jones ..."

august07:
"...OMG the stewardess! I completely forgot about her.
That was so nasty compared to this trip!
... Aravella - she was way classier than the stewardess..."

Great observation. OK, I will 'splain:Trolly Dolley from Qantas 2005- 6 AM, lost in Frankfurt Airport, still drunk from the free booze on the plane, astonished that I got hit on in my state by an airline employee and I possibly thought it might result in a free airline ticket...................................Aravella at Pacha 2007: 2:30AM the night of my birthday, the roof terrace of the classiest club in Ibiza, gorgeous night of about 80 degrees, cool people everywhere, not drunk or hungover, a beautiful day spent at the beach, a wonderful dinner with friends in Dalt Vila, dressed to the 9s and wearing the wonderful Pacha fragrance, Aravella as captivating as ever in the cherished champagne glass, the music was right, the lighting was right, no charge to sit with her and get a birthday hug and kiss and drink Schweppe's Tonica in the VIP area.BIG difference between 2005 and 2007. I doubt Aravella will be forgotten.
Damn. Did I miss something good?

Well, the one thing that captivated me about the terrace was the girl in the champagne glass. If you were chilling there I was just wondering if you happened to catch the best champagne dancer of them all, Aravella. There are about a million posts on this board by me about her! LOL
