Returning after 5 years...whats changed / where to stay?

Hi

I went to Ibiza in 2001 (when I was only 18) and had two of the best weeks of my life

I am thinking about going for a week this year but wanted to know how things have changed, whether its still as good as it was etc?

Do the clubs still get rammed and is the Island as popular all round as it was? What are the best nights? when I went last time Space/ Cream/ Godskitchen/ Renaissance and a couple of the Pacha nights really sttod out.


When I came here last time there were 10 of us who stayed in San An.

This time I was thinking of Ibiza town/PDB but am not sure what these places are like except that borra borra/space is on that side. So im not sure whether to go back to san An because I really enjoyed the beach bars although didn’t like the san An clubs or whether to go somewhere new given that my mates coming this time have never been to Ibiza

Also I was thinking of coming in the first week of July. There seem to be a few opening parties so I was wondering how busy things will be? The opening parties aren’t as big a a deal as the closing ones I guess but are they still a big deal?

Hi Sanj

I personally prefer the San An side - but the majority of the people on this board tend to stay over PdB....

The San An clubs are also a bit too young for my liking so prefer Pacha, Space and Amnesia. Bora Bora will be a different experience for you than what it was like 5 years ago (do a search on Bora Bora and you will understand).

If you look at the clubbing calendar on this site it should give you an idea of what to expect this year (also look at reviews on last year's clubbing which will give a rundown on the last season)

June and early July are excellent times to go, as are Sept where you tend to find most of the hard core clubbers going - August is rammed, Queues are dreadful, no room on the dancefloor, general bedlam really and a definate lack of taxi's available oh and definately too hot as well.

I love Ibiza and I found the last couple of years have been a bit more commercial than in the past, so there were a few less nights I wanted to go to but that gave me an opportunity to see more of the Island and explore, go out for more meals and to generally chill a little more than in past years..... that's not to say the island isnt as good - its just a bit different....

As I say - use the search option to find out what's been going on, etc and you should get to find everything you want to know about.....

Never stayed in PDB, but if you liked San An you will like this place.

All the clubs you mentioned are still going strong, apart from Renaissance and Goskitchen.

What happened to Renaissance, I know they did a few nights last year?

Beginning of July isn't as "rammed" as peak season (end July, Aug) But it is comfortable busy...

Renaissance is doing every other Thursday night at Pacha (alternating with Yoshi toshi/Deep Dish). Line ups so far look tasty.

Well I've only been to Ibiza for the past two years so I don't know how massive it was 5 years ago, but I like staying in PDB for the convenience of being close to Space, bora bora and short drive to Ibiza town

whats PDB like? Ive heard there isn’t much going on as a town apart from BB and Space as well as having a decent beach although given that space and bb are mainly daytime affairs don’t think transport should be an issue from elsewhere. What is Ibiza town like to stay in?

I was meant to go to in September 2003 for the closing parties but my mate broke his leg and so we couldn’t go….have always been keen on the closing parties but don’t think the schedule will allow

Def not keen on going in Aug cos remember how busy the big nights were last time I went and that was only mid/late June!! Had some friends that I went with 5 yrs ago who went in August a couple of years ago and didn’t enjoy it at all….they found in general the freshness of the early season had been replaced by chaos and queues!

I was also toying with the idea of a villa but seems a little pricey given Ill most probs be waking up at 5ish every day and given how expensive the clubs etc are themselves. Anyone stayed in a villa…

Stay in a villa, much better fun, plus if there are loads of you, it works out about the same price as an apartment.

Usually stay in a villa every year - its great if there are more than 4 of you - if you want any help - pm me and I will drop you some links to the villas I have used over the years....... you could look to spend £800 - £8,000 a week the list is endless when it comes to villas........ but its the way forward (one thing to note tho, a car is usually necessary when you have a villa - the majority of them are off the beaten track....)
