Restaurant opening times??

Hi all,

Just back from Ibiza, first day in work... oh dear...

Was just wondering, if anyone knows the situation with restaurant opening times. We decided to go to El Chiringuito restaurant on Thursday night, got there and it was closed! Yet in our guide book it said open all week. So then we headed off to Es Boldado, and we were told they had finished serving at 9:30pm (this was then about 9:45pm, so we had driven across the island and down that really bumpy road, so we were a bit disappointed!) Does anyone know if this is the norm, or is it because it is still early season, and because they are a bit out of the way, they don't have regular opening hours??

Thanks by the way for the tips on Davids - we went there and although it was absolutely packed, even at 10:30, we had a really nice meal! :D

In Spain people eat much later than they do in the UK, and most restaurants don't even open til 9.30-10 in the evening.

People tend to eat lunch later as well around 2.30-3.

My guess is that the place which closed at 9.30 was a daytime cafe, and not open for dinner.

Hi,

Yes, maybe that was the case with El Chiringuito, although there was literally no sign of life at all, as if it wasn't going to open that evening. We were quite surprised about Es Boldado though, as it is quite a well-known restaurant, but maybe it was because it was during the week and still 'low' season, maybe they have longer opening times over the weekend.
