I am strongly considering returning to Ibiza next after my first visit a year ago..
To those who returned a second time , did you find yourself avoiding anything you tried your first time? did you discover anything new?
Some of mine are :
*i didnt spend that much time in San Antonio other than check our Del Mar / Mambo and will take the opportunity to do so next time..
*Not staying right on Bora Bora next time.. the Jet apartments are such a hole and the constant blaring of music almost drove me insane after 10 days..
*Didnt get to know ibiza town and its restaurants that well..

thoughts?

the first time I ever went was 12 years ago but I did pretty much what I am doing now...

I stayed in San An but hired car and visited most of the Island. The only main difference would be staying in a villa rather than a package holiday deal.

Avoided staying in a hotel as much as possible. Book a villa - its amazing having the peace and quiet.

Avoided doing the same club nights as the first time round - tried out various other nights.

Definately made more use of the hire car (first year we were nearly run off the road driving back from Benirras and almost ended up down a ravine - car was scraped really badly down one side, lost a wing mirror and a headlight where the arsehole caught us!!) scared us quite a bit, but got over it..

Just drive around and stop when you see somewhere that takes your fancy -we have found some great little coves/restaurants etc over the years that we never found again....

I didn't go to san antonio the 2nd or 3rd time, but I would have liked to have visited the sunset strip again, especially to have a proper cafe del mar experience.

Whereabouts did you stay ? and where did you find the Villa ?

Also agreed about the fridge .. we visited the supermarket every day for beers , fruit , ice and anything else you can think of. It was compulsory during those July days.

I had a great time at Space for Carl Cox night but on the Sunday was some of the worst crowd i have ever experienced.. i might avoid it on Sunday next time..smile people ! youre on holidays. Get laid or something please :spank:

I hear you can do day trips from Ibiza.. anyone take this up?

First time I went, I went to Cream.. biggest waste of a night.

Also, with a car I made sure I went to 2 or 3 new places each day.. and tried to find a beach which was no on the map..

Never go to San Antonio because I feel like I'm in Magaluf or something.

Experimenting with lesser known nights never works - it's always better to stick with the formula.

Stay in Figueretas whenever possible.

Try to avoid Pacha unless eating there because then it doesn't count because it's a glorified restaurant.

NEVER ever miss DC-10 even if I've just been run over/fallen off a cliff and have missing limbs.

Stick with Playa Salinas as my sunbathe spot...don't bother with family resorts or playa d'en bossa (urgh).

First time did a package holiday in San An and did mostly what the reps told us. Worst idea ever!
Second time spent a week camping in Es Cana in the North and found some very very interesting places, then lived in an apartment with people we met. Found out about some billiant secret parties etc. Go to lots of nights you wouldn't normally think to go to.
This year will be even more experimental for me. Thats the way to do it.

Argh the water was so damn warm in Den Bossa .. was not what i was after a big night  First time i dived in there at 7am trying to get the blood flowing i almost died.
Pacha although looking plush was not very inviting or a great place to let your hair down..felt ripped off paying to get in there.I bolted for Amnesia after and got down and grimy. Will give it another shot but purely because of some of the acts they get on certain nights..

edit : im really enjoying this thread its great to see so many different points of view.

Firstly, check on this site for villa options in the accommodation section, if no joy I will pm you.

I have used many villa companies in the past. We have stayed once in Cala Salada - just up from San An, four times in Port Es Torrent, not far from San An Bay, once in Es Cuebells, a little bit too far out for my liking, and this year we will be staying San Jose.

It doesnt work out that much more expensive staying in a villa as opposed to a decent hotel, once you factor in how much you spend eating out, beverages, poolside snacks etc. You do one huge shop on arrival for food and drink, fill the freezer and drinks cabinet and voila !! everything under one roof - only a short walk from your personal pool to your personal kitchen.... Bliss

sorry to state the obvious but the 2nd time, i avoided the things i wasn't keen on the first time.:?

i did more of things i liked the first time and tried to do some of the things i wished i'd done but never did.

husky, only you will know what these are.;) :D

the polack was being sarcastic wasn't he.

what people miss about san an is that you can't generalise about it, you can't say "it's not that bad" or whatever cos that is wrong. it's more a case of some areas being horrific and others being excellent.

there is a massive variety/diversity of bars, eateries, etc in san an, including the westie.
