Renting a car in ibiza

This year I feel wheels would be a great aid in helping me to cram more sights, experiences and events into each day but it's my understanding that most places only allow 25+ to hire cars. What chance do I have at 18 to hire a car (I'm guessing zilch!lol) Is there any way around this?
Are there any other ways of getting round the island at speed? A moped is out of the question, the things are death traps as it is, while I know I'd be a responsible driver-I cannot trust the other drivers! Also my girlfriend will be with me this year and there's noway I'd want her on one of those things, be it alone or on the back of one.

For a day trip to formentera I think hiring a pair of bicycles would be beneficial though.

Bikes on Formentera are a good call but make sure you take some water with you as it's pretty thirsty work :)

You will struggle with hiring a car if you're 18 - pretty impossible I'd suggest.

Have a look into the bus routes as there are some pretty well services villages to visit.

Moped = no no Even if you are Valentino Rossi you still face the dangers of all the other nutters out there, and the flesh on the side of your leg will last less then 5 yards when it's sliding along the road surface.

It just aint worth it.....
 
we hired a car with a couple of irish guys we met in a bar on the first night. split the cost. might work for you if you meet like minded people. think i had to be a driver for 2 years. age wasn't the issue. best to sort out in advance if you are there in july or august. otherwise, as far as im aware, hiring a car isn't too much hassle.

my thoughts EXACTLY! some of the accidents I've seen there over the years from a youngster has put me off for life. 8O
