Renaissance..................Wild in the country

Was quite dissapointed with this, especially with all the travel involved. Coach journey was an absolute nightmare and took over 5 hours

Was tired as had no sleep the night before, but thought it wouldn't be a problem getting into it. Me and my mate got in within 5 minutes to the event, however it took the girls over an hour  so we were left wandering around waiting for them. Very high police presence including sniffer dogs which was quite intimidating.

The sound in the main arena was abysmal to say the least, was funktion 1 as well so there must have been major problems. You could hear the crowd too much (even though it wasn't that full!) Felt sorry for Dave Seamen, he was even jestering to the crowd that it wasn't his fault! James Zabiela was very varied and the huge breakdowns he had seemed result in nothing but a wet fart as the sound system did the tunes no justice. Thought Sasha & Digger would be able to rescue it but was quite dissapointed with them too.

There was a lot of classics played (which I wasn't particularly into!) and sh1t loads of breakbeat. Now I'm quite a fan of breakbeat, but I would say this must have made about 65-75% of the set which was a shame (there was a tent featuring breakbeat acts anyway!). The set didn't get going until about 4-4.30 when some harder tunes got played.

You should have also seen the amount of groupies in the box when S+D were playing  Left about 5.50 when some awful vocal tune came on (the tent cleared at this). Overall was quite dissapointed and wish I'd saved the dollar for Homelands. Would not go to one of the se events again. Also a little tip never get a coach to one of these events.....truly awful :x

There must have been a UK-wide epidemic of crap sound systems on Saturday as the club I was in blew it's amps at 1am and couldn't fix it.

The Renaissance night was promising to be good, did you see Nish at all?

No kept an eye out for Nish but didn't see him. I think he was going down there quite early.

Was a shame about sound coz the visuals were funkin lush!!!

I had to get there early. Stayed till the end tho.

Visuals were class.

Sound levels were unforutunate.

IT WASNT RENAISSANCE'S FAULT that it couldnt be pushed, which was a shame as the FUNKTION1 WAS SUPERB!!!!!!

Xpander from here was also in attendance!

Tho I had to keep darting between tents so only seen her for a bit :(

There is a statement from Renaissance on their board about complaints and apparently it all boiled down mainly to the marlboro tent.......... what a pisstake all that R n B crap.

I think if they are to hold it again they need to go elsewhere, as they deffo can't have the sound that low again. :x

lol, I doubt they'll be doing it there again dude.

Lots of cock ups but a wicked wicked night! I have some of the bestest friends in the world to party with! They could make any event good :p

Just thought that I'd say Wild in the country was one of the best events I've been to for years. The set that Dave Seaman did was great and the Sasha and Digweed set was almost perfection. I think they brought back the kind of set that big venue clubbing has been missing for some years now! The main tent was still pretty full 10 minuites after the last tune with people shouting for more but for some bald headed bloke at the front shaking his head at Sasha saying no. I was still dancing down the platform of liverpool lime street at 1pm on sunday on my way home. Just take a listen to that play it again on radio 1. I just cant wait for the next one. :D

Ok my expectations were huugue for this event, what with the great line up but straight away I had my doubts when the girls I was with, had to queue for like an hour to just get in, whilst I walked straight in past the small armada of security!!!

I thought Dave Seaman did a cracking job, what with the awful sound system he had to work with & also when I accidentally bumped into him trying to take a pic of the crowd mid set, ooops!

Sasha & Digweed were 'good' & kept me bouncing all night but I wanted more than that for the money I paid...I wanted to lose myself in the music which I rarely did...

Jon Carter & Yousef added a nice different touch to proceedings & the Scissor Sisters!?!? where the funk were you!!!!?

Oh &... NEVER get a coach, left at 3.30 & didnt arrive until 8.30!!!

Now roll on Homelands!!!!!!

I have videos of everyone screaming for one more. Was unfortunate but they HAD to finish at that time.

Eisbear - another liverpool person. going out on a limb here but have we met?

There was (unfortunately) only one queue for the girls as they were getting searched. (hence the size of the queue).
Security was not a joke at this event - believe me!

Were u on stage with Dave? - Did u see the system mate? -The Funktion 1 there was a a QUALITY system. The levels had to be turned down for environmental reasons (and complaints  )

Did Jon play??

Scissor Sisters- unfortunate. this is straight from Geoff Oakes;

scissor sisters - same problem, only in reverse. they were fine to take off from london, but hixon airfield was also fogbound. they couldn't leave london until they had confirmation they could land there. to be honest, it was too late when they went on. add to this the fact that it was their 3rd gig of the night and it's obvious we were never going to see them at their best...... thought they did o.k though

ROLL ON HOMELANDS INDEED!!! ;)

The women had to queue cos they were getting searched!? Myself & my friend did too & mine was the most thorough search I'd ever experienced in getting in anywhere!

Security were fine but they just annoyed me when they wouldnt let me the compound back to the coach when I only wanted my chupa chupa's!! :p (Still sneaked out anyway)

I was next to dave for a while & your right the system was dam good...I didnt realise the volume levels were due to comlaints etc - in that case they surely cant have it in the same place next year!!

Oh fair play to the SS if it was their third gig that night & all...I waited for about 40mins for them & thought the crowd were starting to get a bit edgy so went to see some of Jon C.... & yep he was dam good!! Just what I needed!

Homelands, mmm...now that always hits the spot  can't wait!!!

My mate was gutted!

We were waiting in the tent for SS to arrive. but after a while we thought we'd get our bad asses back to Sasha and Diggers. We went back for SS 30mins later to hear the last bar of the last track and 'thank you and goodnight'

SS at homelands tho -might see u there! :)
