REM have announced a UK stadium tour for August.

The shows, which will take place in Manchester, Cardiff, Southampton and Twickenham, follow the band’s performances at Oxegen and T In The Park festivals in July.

As previously announced, REM will also play a special gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 24, also featuring Robyn Hitchcock, Foals and The Duke Spirit.

The band release their new album 'Accelerate' on March 31.

The UK dates are:

Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Club (August 24)
Cardiff Millennium Stadium (25)
Southampton Rose Bowl (27)
London Twickenham Stadium (30)

Stipe = god.

Just found out I am meant to be away that weekend. Trying to re-arrange the holiday to go see.

The man is a poet! If James Blunt can get an airing on the forum, so can he!

I've found a way to make you smile
I've found a way
A way to make you smile

I read bad poetry
Into your machine.
I save your messages
Just to hear your voice.
You always listen carefully
To awkward rhymes.
You always say your name,
Like I wouldn't know it's you,
At your most beautiful.

I've found a way to make you smile
I've found a way
A way to make you smile

At my most beautiful
I count your eyelashes, secretly.
With every one, whisper I love you.
I let you sleep.
I know you're closed eye watching me,
Listening.
I though I saw a smile.

I've found a way to make you smile
I've found a way
A way to make you smile

Used to love REM but they went rapidly downhill since joining Warner and their recent stuff is pretty dull. Their new single is especially bland.

Pity, as I still listen to the early material (Reckoning, Murmur...) and enjoy it. No doubt they'll play some of that which they did at T in the Park in 2003 but I wouldn't pay to see them anymore.
