Recording from decks to a CD...

I got my decks back in november and I think I've finally grasped how to beatmatch at least half decently. This has probably been asked before but I have no idea how to do it...how do I record my mixes on my decks to a CD???

You will need a phono to jack lead to connect your mixer output into your pc mic/line input.

Does your mixer have 2 outputs? If it only has one you will need to use your pc to listen to what your playing on your decks.... i.e plug your pc output into your amp or just use your pc speakers. But if it has two, just use your monitor output to connect to your pc input.

here's the lead i'm on about http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PC-Laptop-to-...377334862QQcategoryZ23783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Some people seem to think you need an expensive soundcard to record mixes... but I have the most basic soundcard possible and can record no problem :)

You will probably have to keep your mixer output level pretty low, because the recording becomes distorted if you have it too high! You will have to mess around a bit to find the best level to record at.

You will need to get a recording program to record onto your pc. Alot of people use soundforge!! There are free programs on some download sites though, not sure which ones are good! I'm not encouraging piracy, but soundforge can be found on limewire etc ;)

After you have your mix as a .wav file you just use any cd recording software to stick it onto a cd. If you want to split it into tracks its a bit more complicated. Nero is good for splitting mixes up.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks man :p
One more question....I have mixmeister pro on my computer (and this may be a really stupid question) but can you record the mix onto there?

I don't have that program so don't know anything about it!

If it has an audio recording function then it should be fine to use!

I'd really advise you to get Sony Soundforge though. All you need to do is hook your mixer up to your pc, get the right recording level, then hit record! It has a display with the sound levels too, so you can see if its getting too loud etc!

mixmeister is completely different.

get a sound editing program as jamie suggested.

you can use mixmeister to stream mixes however.

its also quite handy for splitting long mp3's into tracks for cd burning.

its purpose isnt for that though. there are better programs for doing all of the above. mixmeisters primary function is to mix mp3's.

ok just to clarify everything.....I've got Soundforge now...I "bought it" ;)
Right so...I connect my cd decks to my mixer...right? and then the mixer is connected to the PC....right? lol just so I don't blow my computer up or anything I thought Id double check that Im doing everything correctly :p
