No way they could have survived without very deep pockets and a load of free promo ... 75-100 people in there at 5.30am on Sunday. Which was rather like having Gary Beck play at a private after-party and felt just as intimate with a tiny crowd who loved the music ... but commercially can only have been a disaster.
Are you really that surprised ? 40Euros on the door, 30 advance, 25 with wristband for a niche lineup (by Ibiza standards anyway) on We Love night ? Would have taken a gargantuan promo effort to fill that place for a night billed that late in the season. Far more suitable for somewhere like Sal Rossa, La Plage or Delano.
I had really hoped this would succeed because the music was amazing - the Octopus crew create an absolutely rocking dancefloor vibe.
Check out the Sian Guestmix (2nd hour of this radio show) for a taster ... goes off good and proper
We Love is lacking more than a little something this year so there are no real alternatives but a night of alternative free-entry venues.... or as I suspect from the numbers in Space ... it's become the universally chosen night for a 'quiet night in' !
