I might come over right at the last minute this weekend for Space closing does anyone have any experience of turning up at the airport and getting a flight on the cheap? Or can you book online through Thomson or similar right at the last minute? It would be from Gatwick btw. Cheers in advance

I have been checking out jet2 for this weekend as i had some points to use. Cheap going out, mortgage draw down facility required for coming home. :( Loads of flights full as well. Not sure about other airlines. kimajy is good at getting last minute bargains on flights.

You'll be hammered for an astronomic fare if you turn up at the airport. Especially the return leg - flights are very very full - even I book closing party flights at least 3 weeks ahead ... and then (as per usual) wind up not being able to go !!!  ..

I have tickets you can have if you want them as follows, but they are from Birmingham :

Out : Sunday 7th October Birmingham T1 - Ibiza dep. 06.25 arr. 10.00

[Thomas Cook - name change fee £30 - must be changed by tomorrow or forefeit]

Back -Tuesday 9th October Ibiza - Birmingham dep. 19.25 - arr. 21.05

[Ryanair - name change fee £110 - changeable up to 9th October 2pm]

Happy to assign the booking(s) gratis but obviously you'd have to pay the airline assignment fees. The outbound flight is no longer available for sale (except for a name change on an existing booking) and the return is now about £210. Birmingham airport is extremely easy if you've never been from there and I far prefer it to Gatwick. Loads of reasonable parking and even the Long Stay is walkable to the Terminal 8).

last time i was at gatwick there was a office with late flights.ie if someone did not turn up.but i guess its a gamble.all packed and no plane.i would keep looking at thomsons site.as if ithe plane is not full they sometimes dropp the price just to fill it.gamble either way.

whats the dates your looking at.

Thanks for the offer that's very kind of you but it's not going to happen now I'm afraid. Thanks again

I had to use frequent flyer miles for the return flight this year - the prices were astronomical.

I have the same problem as want to make a last minute dash to closings
The outbound flight is fine but the return is astronomical
