I like that little thunderstorm that happens in September, brings in the cool air with it, from the 5th sept last year for a whole week the heat was unbearable :?

I also like the fact that the past 3 years its been during the night so when we get up in the morning its blue skys again with a nice cool breeze.

Yes, we had not been clubbing that night and were sitting on our balcony having drinks with the couple in the apartment next door. We all sat there from about 1am when the lighting started so by time the storm was in full swing I was well oiled  Kaz had to refrain me from going downstairs and out into the rain

Wasn`t it on a Wednesday night? I remember being caught in the downpour by Ground Zero, legged it down to the taxi rank and paid for a short trip down to Es Paradis. When we jumped out of the taxi there were about ten people kicking water over each other from the rain puddles!(It looked like a bloody rehearsal for Riverdance!) When inside we saw the same people wanderin` round covered in soggy fagends and cashpoint receipts!! Classy:lol:

from majorca daily bulletin:

FLOOD PREVENTION PLAN ACTIVATED 12 DAYS EARLIER THAN USUAL
Flood alert because of weekend storms
THE Balearic government's emergencies department has brought its special plan for preventing flooding (INUNDABAL) into operation 12 days earlier than expected, because of the forecast of heavy rains for this weekend. As reported yesterday, a cold snap is expected to hit the islands this weekend, bringing storms and torrential rain, of up to 50 litres per square metre per hour in some areas. Because of the risk of flooding the emergencies department has issued a series of recommendations for the general public.
These include taking extra precautions while driving, avoiding excursions in the mountains, and checking drainage systems in homes.
People are also advised to use their cars only when it is essential, not to cross bridges or flooded roads, and to keep away from torrentes or water courses. Yesterday the Met Office was predicting a drop of temperatures of between 8 and 10º C in the Balearics because of the storms due to enter from the north. The forecast for today is clear skies, with cloud building up in the afternoon and the risk of scattered showers. Night time temperatures will go down slightly. Tomorrow and Sunday will be marked by storms and heavy rains.
By Monday, the weather will have cleared, although there will still be a risk of scattered showers in the Balearics.
The Canary Islands have already suffered serious flooding due to a tropical front which hit the islands yesterday.
It caused flights to be cancelled or rerouted, and flooded basements, garages and several roads.
The Canary Island government yesterday declared a state of alert because of the heavy rains in Tenerife.
The unexpected rain fell ata rate of more than 30 litres per square metre in just over an hour, a government spokesman said.

ah, how much fun we goona have!! 8O

I remember once ( before becoming a richB'stard ) staying at camping floride es-canar\punta arabi, we dug small trench's around our tent's as heavy rain was forecast... It did not help as the temperture plummeted to 28° and the whole campsite was like a swimming pool with debris, august 28\1981

Thunderstorms really freak me out- when I was a kid in the 1st year of secondary school one of the 5th year's (a lad called Andrew Robinson) was struck by lightning on the school playing fields. His footprints were on the field for years (the earth under his feet turned to glass) and they named a school trophy after him. I still jump a mile at that first clap of thunder.
