Raid on Ikea

my mallorca jaunt last week included a successful trip to ikea which was full of stuff that i wanted at prices that i could afford. we weren't the only ibbies there either - a well known tall cricket captain was also in there and had obviously been before!

on a quick day trip his modus operandi was to smother his people carrier in super glue and drive at high speed throught the kitchen and bathroom sections and hey presto, 3 kitchens and 2 bathrooms fitted out for next to nothing in the twinkling of an eye!

on a more sedate note we visited an olive oil factory (soller, our base is famous for its fab olive oil and oranges) where this little old lady showed us how it has been produced there since 15 nought plonk. the only change is that they now have leccy to drive the presses.

i've put a little slideshow of the wonderful scenery of the sierra tramuntana at the bottom of my blog if anyone cares to look

Ikea rules. Visited the local store last month and, as usual, came back with far more than I planned. The place is designed to make you just buy stuff. A triumph in merchandising, and pricing policy.

Which makes me wonder - did you take your car on the ferry? If not, how did you drag your purchases home?

Ikea in the UK was 21% off everything this weekend to celebrate their 21st year in the UK. "Busy" does not quite cover it.

El Ste - your cunning play on words makes me think about hijacking planes, Israeli's and Uganda Airport .......... :?:?

On another more upbeat note - Soller is gorgeous isnt it? I remember taking a rickety old train with wooden slatted seats and no windows through the orange groves on my visit with the school when I was 14 8)8)8)

i understood the tram only dated back to the 1920's ?

How f****g old do you think I am?????:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

definately a rickety old windowless, slatted seated train when we were there with the school - in fact it reminded me of Trumpton at the time..... 8)
