radio one weekend?

Does anyone know what dates the radio one weekend falls on this year? And is it worth going or is it always full of wankers? I’ve managed to miss it every year so far and was wondering what it was like.

Cheers,

Rob

I had to go in August one year cos I had no choice, selfish people getting married in June and September  ;) and we were there for Radio One wkend and never again for me

There are loads of beer boys around, everywhere is really rammed, you can't get a taxi etc etc. Ok you can hear the likes of Judge Jules  on the beach but that's not really going to swing it for me

Imo there's loads better times to go to Ibiza.

Thats what i was worried about, i normally stay in playa den bossa so the amount of beer boys i have to deal with is normally minimal but im guessing the whole island gets like that for the week :x

I've been at different times of the season, but now i'm restricted to school hols unfortunately (muchos ££££££)

Anyway, yes radio one weekend is rammed, but you don't HAVE to go to the windmill, Manumission for the Essential Mix etc - i avoid it like the plague - full of "lads" who don't know how to conduct themselves in public (and that's coming from me - who only has the vaguest idea usually!!!) Just as i can avoid Play 2, or Es Paradis...

I've been at that time of year a few times now - and going this year too - and just like the whole of Ibiza, you can make it what you want - yes you can have the "Radio One is the only reason i'm not going to Faliraki" experience or you can body swerve the lot of them...

I'll take the latter.

Plus, get a hire car and you don't need a taxi!

:D

went for the Radio 1 weekend 2 years ago for Sasha @ Privilege

also this year our last night was the Essential Selection live - find that night ok but t'other year we flirted around the edge of the radio 1 site and the other shows were crap

Personally i found the experience of the Windmill horrific, too many lads drunk and lairy... very sad.

I find it difficult to have a good time when there's muppets like that around. Plus the music was crap.

So i avoid it.

we was there last year when radio 1 was there,we would tend to stay away from this type of event normally.
we stayed on the fringe of it on the beach with some friends and i must
confess we had a right laugh and got to listen to sets from Erick Morillo,Jon Carter,Lottie,Seb Fontaine and Pete Tonge and didn't have to spend 1 euro to listen to them.
Yes there are alot of so called beer boys, but i like a beer like alot of people do it just depends how you conduct yourself on it.

My advice is go try it out you might enjoy it we did and are going back
this year !!!!!

so what if there's loads of beer boys there! u can still have a good time! and the windmill event are absolutely brilliant!

dancing with the sun going down behind you.... what more can u ask for?!??!!?

Yeah it's great when their trying to grab your ass, pull your bikini off, throwing up on your sandals...

I'm all for having a good time, but i don't try to grab your willy/pull your burberry shorts down/honk on your reebok classics while i'm doing it...

OK, since I came back from the island in Aug 2002, I've read lotsa posts about beerboys, Radio 1 weekend and all the drunken idiots out and about... to this day, I think I recall seeing one or two of them. Radio 1 weekend was an absolute blast in 2002, didn't see anyone throwing up, didn't see women being harrassed, just saw a whole lot of ppl enjoying some great music with kickin partiers and a spectacular atmosphere. Maybe, I missed something for the 2 weeks I was there, but I did stay in San An and was in the town for most of my hols and I didn't come across a lot of these ppl.

I suggest give Radio 1 weekend a try. If you hate it, leave as it doesn't cost you anything to see what it's all about anywayz. I personally believe mindset is 85% of the time you'll have. If you go in expecting some drunken rowdies being morons, you'll spend more of your time looking for them. If you go there to party, you'll party!

Cheers,
Terry (Coming back for Radio 1 Weekend this year)

I agree

It's only since Radio One moved to the windmill that there seems to have been problems.
I went the year before when it was at Mambo and it was stunning. The dancefloor bit at Mambo was TINY, but there was still plenty of room, you could get right to the front, pass your shouts to Tong/Seb etc and geta drink at the bar.
You could also take your beers onto the beach and the sun setting over the water was magical.

Suppose times change.

I agree with you too, i'm not trying to say that the Weekend is just about that at all, i've been at that time of year a few times, and - as i said above - i'm going back again at that time this year. It IS a good time to go, great nights, really busy, etc etc, i was just highlighting something that has spoiled the Windmill experience for ME.

and i did turn round to punch him in the face, but he ran away... what a fairy

Please explain me what is this Windmill u guys were talking about.
Pardon me for my ignorance ;)

Punto Es Moli i think its called, its on the corner as you walk around the sea front towards the bay right outside hotel Hawai.
You carn't miss it.

Check times

Went to the radio one thing last year, it was ok. Make sure u check the timetable b4 cause the radio one webpage got all the timing wrong and we missed most of fergie. It finishes really early on the beach because of the noise factor and neighbours. Have fun!! :D
