Radio 1 and The Essential Mix have teamed up with Sasha to stage an exclusive digital DJ event at the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios in London on Saturday May 21st.
Sasha will perform a unique live two hour set, mixed entirely on his new Maven controller, created exclusively with the new Abelton Live software, in front of an invited audience at the BBC studios which have hosted sessions by everyone from The Beatles to the BBC Philarmonic Orchestra.
The Maven is a one-off mixing console developed by Sasha and a team of specialists which links to a G5 Mac and the Ableton Live software. This new controller enables Sasha to do much more than just play and mix records. He is now free to remix and re-edit tracks in a live environment, creating unique sets in a way traditional vinyl and CD DJing cannot. Sasha has been using the Maven and Ableton Live in his live sets for the past few months at his Fundacion nights in New York and LA, which can also be heard on the forthcoming Fundacion NYC mix album out through Global Underground in June.
This one off mix can be heard in The Essential Mix between 0100 and 0300 BST on May 22nd on BBC Radio 1. You can also listen again to the show at bbc.co.uk/radio1 for the following seven days.
