Quick Review of My Long Weekend

Just got back from my third trip with my gf to Ibiza and it was....good but definitely had some real down points.

We stayed in San Antonio for the first time (as opposed to near Ibiza Town) and it was ok...it's not as bad as people say but we were still surrounded by English people which isnt really what i want on holiday and Ibiza Town is so so much nicer. There are nice (and authentic) parts of San Antonio but you have to look for them a lot nore than Ibiza Town. Still, we werent renting a car this year and this meant San An was a lot more practical as we could walk to beaches hence we choose it and our apartment was right next to Cala Gracia and Cala Gracionatta which are fantastic beaches.

Anyway, arrived Thursday and went to Cream Closing party. 10 years ago, if you had told me i could go to any night in the world, i would have chose this. My tastes have definitely moved (a long way )away from trance but i knew i'd still probably be able to enjoy it. The night was pretty good except for the fact that 3 people sold me dud substances in the club including literally buying paracetomal :( . I guess we have been lucky in previous years and we did still have a good time but it was a shame that despite our best efforts (and a fair bit of cash), we didnt manage to get messy!

Saturday was all about Amnesia Closing as this was the main reason for going. After going to Space closing last year, i'd read some great comments about Amnesia closing and decided we had to go this year. I have to say, it was a bit of a disaster. We got to Amnesia at half 3 and i have literally never been to a club (or anywhere else) that was so clearly over crowded and capacity. We went way to the back hoping there woul be more space there, stood for about an hour hoping it would quieten down, then tried to move to the main room and getting there was actually a bit scary... it was so so busy and people were pushing and i genuinely was worried about what would happen if someone fell over. we waited another hour at the edge of the main room and at about half 5, finally decided to give up and head home.

It was a real shame but we just couldnt see how we could dance comfortably (or at all) and felt really trapped at times. I go to football games and Notting Hill carnival every year and have been in some pretty tight crowds but this was something else. When we left, there were still about 300 people outside still trying to get in looking pretty unhappy! It's odd that the authorities there are so anal about daytime clubbing and licencing but seem ok with over crowding.

We flew back on Sunday night so it was a bit of an odd trip and odd coming back not having had a messy night out. I love Ibiza and we had an amazing time chilling on beautiful beaches and eating great food. Amnesia is still my favourite club probably anywhere in the world but i'd avoid going on a massive night again...it was just a waste of time. Finally, i'll try harder to not buy over the counter paracetomal in a club in future ;)

Whatever do you mean?;)

Do they go around in three's these days?

I was hedging my bets and didnt want to buy everything off one person...which seemed like a good idea at first when the first one's didnt work...but then after peson number 2 and 3, i realised it made no difference!

Ouch. The problem is that all the dodgy dealers seem to flock to the bigger English nights (We Love, Cream etc) as they know we're suckers!!

It was annoying as everyone around us was so wrecked and we werent! i'd love to not be reliant on getting stuff in the cklub but we didnt really have any option. We still had a good night and at least they didnt make us feel sick or anything but getting mashed would have been nice and not spending €30 on nothing would also have been nice!

You cant get prosecuted for selling paracetamol in clubs.........as a supplier thats a big advantage. As a customer, at least you didnt have a headache the following morning :)

I would have thought the "Big Bust" that went down last month would have severed a number of supply chains, especially the tourist ones.

As always BYO

had read about the rock stars...but there are 2 batches...the blue ones without the r on the back and the good ones. i had the first ones and they did literally nothing!

you can make a mint punting filed aspirins to desperate tourists. I'm amazed more people don't do it.

I arrived there at 8am....they still wanted to charge 70 Euros on the door.
I was lucky to see someone I knew and got in for 20.
But ...Yes it was soooo crowded you couldn't move.
Managed to put up with until 12.....but then called it day and went to the beach.
Went to Blue Marlin that evening and had the best time ever.

We paid 65 euros to get in at 6am, and that video pretty much sums up the 6 hours we was in there, was as busy as that all the way to the back of the terrace, with no space to be found anywhere!

can everyone stop banging on about what great things they did AFTER amnesia!? i was fed up and did nothing!

i did have a really chilled day on the beach to be fair but still...

Due to my stinking cold on saturday I decided to give Amnesia a miss on sunday morning. A mate of mine did go around 7am and he did say it was very busy he only stayed 3 hours.

Had a good time at Cream closing. The house and trance rooms were not switched like advertised. Thought the trance was quite hard even for me at times but Prydz provided good relief when it was needed. Less busy than other years which was welcomed.

Space was my highlight though. From the end of Fanciulli, to a bit of Lawler and the excellent Yousef in the sunset terrace (proper house terrace tunes!). Things were a bit hit and miss with Mandy and Tiefshwarz but Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing smashed it with a really hard techno set inside the discoteca.. the sort of set that room is made for I think 8)8)

I think Cadenza closing on the same day was a blessing in disguise as there was actually room to dance for once even when the Flight Area shut

Only managed to to spend about 4 hours at DC-10 closing. The car park was way too packed, but luckily the inside was just right. Not sure who was playing between 9pm and 1am but they kept me dancing non-stop.

Had to leave early as I had a date with the World Cup trophy early on tuesday
