Questions, and lots of them

Evening all,

I paid off our villa very recently and, now that we're in June, our August trip suddenly doesn't feel that far off at all. And I have a few holiday questions, questions I've been mulling over for ages but holding onto. (Apologies if this is a bit long-winded.)

We're staying in the town of Jesus this year. This takes us away from my familiar San Antonio base, so this is uncharted territory for me. I'm excited about staying somewhere different, but to be honest, considering I've been to Ibiza 3 times my knowledge of what lies outside San Antonio is really a bit pathetic.

First off, has anyone else here been to or stayed in Jesus before? I asked this in a thread I did in the review section, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask again. I have it in my head that it's a reasonably sedate little place, much less touristy with some pretty tidy bars and restaurants. Do I have that about right?

We were in Port Des Torrent last year and we became pretty reliant on ordering taxis from a nearby bar/restaurant. This year I'm hoping we can actually use the buses a bit more.

Does anyone know if any regular buses pass through Jesus going to either Ibiza Town or San Antonio? And also, using the taxi fare calculator thing on the maps section, I've worked out that a taxi from Jesus to Ibiza Town could be as little as 6 EUR. Could you conceivably walk to Ibiza Town or Talamanca from Jesus or is there not a suitable walking route?

The other thing this year is Ibiza Town itself. In 3 trips to Ibiza, my only experience of Ibiza Town is two daytime strolls along the city walls and the harbour. We all arrive late afternoon/early evening on the Monday and I think the plan is to go to ASOT at Privilege fresh from landing. I'm a bit worried that a flustered group of about 13-16 people are going to step out of taxis in Ibiza Town, some of us having barely stepped off the plane, and not have a clue where to begin the night. :? Any recommendations or pointers?

I'll be glad to be a good arm's length from the West End this year, but a few cheap(ish) drinks wouldn't go a miss amongst the group, I think. Some hidden, more upmarket gems would be good as well.

And the final one. Playa De S'Estanyol. I asked about it previously and it really does sound like worth a visit. Would anyone mind giving me some rough directions to it?

Thanks in advance!

Jesus (if it's the Jesus I know) is a tidy little village about 3km from Ibiza town with a few shops, bars and eating places. The buses 12a (from Ibiza) and 12b (to Ibiza) go through village from early until about 11pm every hour in the summer season (may be later, check!) but only to Ibiza where you have to connect to San An.

Not a lot happens in Jesus itself, it's inland (no beach then) but the nearest beach is about a 1 mile walk @ Talamanca. I believe it's about a mile or so to Pacha (??) and Heaven (???). Ibiza town is a bit further (check maps for your shortest route) estimate 45 min walk, may be less for quicker walkers!

Taxi from Ibiza town to Jesus about 10e - poss more after midnight. Lot depends where you get the taxi, may be cheaper from the port where the Formentera ferries are - that's nearer.

No idea about ASOT, so can't help with that one!

Enjoy!

you could get the 15 as well bus

but be carefull as it goes round port part.and goes through a nasty bend in jesus.near fag shop.from then you need to get into ibiza town for the 3 bus to san an and 14 to pdb.i think i know which part of village your staying so 15 would be best.

or a good 20 min walk.its not that far out of town

Thanks for the info on the buses, guys. That will be really useful I think. Before I fly out I'm gonna make sure I have good list of the times we can get the bus to and from Jesus and then on into San An... (we'll have one night in San An, I think - to catch Sean Tyas at Colors.)

Anyone got anymore info? Re: Jesus, I'm just trying to work out whether it's going to be a more accessible/convenient place to stay than Port Des Torrent last year. I suspect it might be... just.

Also, anything on Playa De S'Estanyol or where to start a night in Ibiza Town?

san an buses run on the hour and half hour.

well start where you like in ibiza town.may a walk round main streets.local tapas bars cheap enough.then head into the port area where you will find shops and loads of bars etc.

Playa De S'Estanyol very nice little beach.

Anything on either of these, anyone?

Sorry, guys. I've put far too much in one thread here.

Go to Bar lo cura in ibiza town.best bar by far around there..It hard to find, not in the marina or port its back by the walls of castle cock.. All the bars around that area are so much better than the ones in the port/marina and cheaper.

Nice one. Think I've found it on the map. We will head there and see what we can find. Other recommendations welcome! :)

Nice little beach. Gets a bit clogged with seaweed but otherwise a decent chill location.
The bar there, PK2, serves good food and sometimes hosts some great off-the-map parties.

Yes pk2 is very good.We went there fews weeks ago and it was very busy,i think they only open a few day before.Beautiful all around that part of the island in the morning.Get up early make the most of it.;)

I think I've managed to work out which road to take now. There's single road that just goes out east wards - I think it's at the end of there.

Really looking forward to checking it out.

s'Estanyol is signposted from Jesus, Phil. Just look for the brown signs. You need to turn off along the correct dirt-road (camino) which if you come from Jesus following the guided signs is on your right and marked by a large boulder spray painted a faded blue (there are no signs marking the actual dirt track).

The beach/PK2 are quite a long drive down that camino but there's a decent-sized car park at the bottom.

Phil, what time do you land on the Monday?

We leave Manchester at 15.20. Land at 19.10. Looking at being in the villa no later than 8pm and I hope to arrive just as the BBQ is on and the booze starting to flow.

Just slightly wary that we're going with Jet2 who have already moved our times once. Plus, in 3 visits to Ibiza I've never actually made it to a super club on the night of landing. We're gonna have to change that this year. ;) Not knowing Ibiza Town or Jesus very well ain't gonna help.
